Role Summary and Impact
EssenceMediacom Analytics & Insight houses all of the data, effectiveness, insight and technology specialists within EssenceMediacom. The team has one purpose – to ensure the best use of data within media planning.
Our Analytics & Insight team is crucial for our client’s success by delivering a data-driven approach to media strategy, planning and activation with an emphasis on accountability and innovation. This unit also empowers & guides the wider EssenceMediacom network on their own transformative data journey.
An integral part of Analytics & Insight is our Data Science and Modelling team which specialises in marketing analytics. Here, we are committed to building connections along clients’ business journey to ensure they can make the right decisions to optimise their business performance. We do this using a vast range of analytical techniques which are bespoke for each business question and client.

Our areas of expertise span market mix modelling, budget setting and allocation, forecasting, brand equity modelling, launch volumetric studies and conjoint to name but a few. Our primary focus is on getting insight out of data and analytics in order to provide recommendations for clients that are realistic, relevant and above all actionable. We are a team of 60+ experts, working across more than 25 clients in the UK and globally. We analyse over £600m of communications spend each year, covering 15% of UK media spend which means we are the leading experts in our field.
The Data Science and Modelling team is structured into three specialist areas, across which all projects are delivered.  Projects are led by the client team who specialise in exceptional client relationships, understanding client business needs and ensuring analytic projects are delivered that make a real world difference to our client’s businesses. The Data team are crucial for ensuring the data required for our analytics is collected, processed and maintained to industry leading standards, ensuring we have the best possible data to inform the modelling and deliver insights that make a real difference.  The Modelling team are the technical experts with regards MMM and other analytical methods that are not only statistically robust but intuitive, effective and efficient. Each of the teams work seamlessly together to provide our clients with marketing leading and insight led analytical outputs.
The Data Science and Modelling team is based in 3 locations in the UK: London, Manchester and Leeds.
We’re looking for an Analyst to join our Data Science and Modelling team and help deliver marketing analytics projects for some of our UK and global clients.  Analysts are key members of the Data Science and Modelling team and you will gain experience across all elements of the analytical project process from data collection and processing, modelling and client deliverables.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in all three specialisms within the Data and Modelling teams, and various account groups within the agency, helping to action our findings.
Following a successful screening call you will be invited to an in-person assessment on Wednesday 11th June 2025.  
On joining the team, you will first undertake a full and comprehensive training programme covering all areas of expertise and knowledge required for the successful delivery of marketing analytics projects. It will cover all stages of an analytics project and is a mix of key learning and practical tasks. This training programme will last 1 month following which you will then be embedded within the Business Science team itself.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Working on projects using statistical analysis to measure the effect that marketing activity has on sales 
  • Significant responsibility working across all aspects of a given project 
  • Working closely with clients and various account groups within the agency 
  • Preparing results presentations

Skills needed in this role:
 
  •  Degree in Economics, Maths, Stats, Sciences or other numerical subject (2:1 or above) 
  • Knowledge of R or other programming language, via own learning or academic experience 
  • Academic experience of time series statistical modelling and/or other approaches to data analysis 
  • High numeracy with the ability to convert analysis into real world actionable solutions 
  • Good knowledge of Excel, common statistical packages (Eviews, SPSS, R, etc.) and PowerPoint 
  • Ambitious, determined and self-motivated 
  • Keen interest in media and marketing
