Overview of role


This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team as an Account Director.


As Account Director, you are critical to the delivery of this ambition; working closely with the Senior Associate Director, you will be a key interface for our clients and lead planning projects from start to finish, acting as the conduit who brings together our specialists to deliver exceptional work.

This role reports to the Senior Associate Director on the accounts

Measures of success


In three months, you would have:

  • Good understanding of your clients, media planning systems, processes and working with the team collaboratively.
  • Feel confident delivering / responding to a client request and brief independently or as part of the team utilising the correct resource.

In six months, you would have:

  • Built strong, trustworthy client relationships and established yourself as a key day-to-day lead on the account.
  • Established yourself as key figure of the team, acting as an invaluable support to your SAD/BD & wider team.
  • Built trust within the wider departments i.e., implementational and specialist teams
  • Understood the intricacies of the clients’ Commercial framework and how we are remunerated across the accounts.
  • Good understanding of your clients’ market and the evolving media landscape - and how to approach briefs and deliver ideal plans to deliver effective results ensuring a balance of brand and performance.
  • Identified and implemented improved ways of working.

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Taking on additional responsibilities spotting opportunities to sell in wider EssenceMediacom or WPP services i.e. Creative Systems, Systems Intelligence & other Out of Scope projects.
  • Played an active role on a new business pitch.



Responsibilities of the role


  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the account, ensuring flow and accuracy of work – ensure the campaign management process follows best practice, you are across all communications and establish yourself as the first port of call for clients.
  • Build a strong relationship with your clients and become a trusted strategic partnershowing a deep understanding of your clients business and how communications can drive growth.
  • Be a confident and competent communications planner who demonstrates a thorough understanding of our Systems Planning approach, while leading our planning responses from start to finish, ensuring we have a seamless working process with the implementational and specialist teams
  • Grow your understanding of digital, data, and marketing technology - work closely with the Digital Implementation team to ensure growth and innovation is weaved into our planning.
  • Strong understanding of your clients’ business & KPIs and how we are remunerated across the account
  • Contribute to the commercial targets set for your business group by proactively identifying and pursuing additional services opportunities on your clients.
  • Contribute to the monthly billing processes and monthly laydowns are up-to-date and accurate to ensure your accounts are in perfect financial health.
  • Develop strong internal relationships with Planners outside of your team, as well as implementation and measurement specialist across the business as well supporting your Senior AD in the development of your team.
  • Promote your team’s brilliant work, both within EssenceMediacom and beyond.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to agency wide initiatives (i.e., huddles, stretches, pitches, etc).
