About the Client Services team

  • The Client Services team is responsible for creating the conditions by which our clients love our work. We do this by building trust and exerting influence through deeper, more strategic relationships with our clients, and by driving, leading and owning the campaign delivery process.

About the role

  • We are looking for a sharp, strategic, driven and highly experienced person to take on a role as a Business Director within the Client Services team in London.
  • You will foster the environment to marry client objectives with high quality thinking and great work across a range of specialised practice teams, all in service of realising the client’s market leading ambitions per product.
  • This role will require a high level of both strategic thinking as well as attention to detail, ultimately being accountable for campaigns
  • As the future of media becomes increasingly integrated, commercial growth of this business will form a core foundation for our future.
  • You will be working with a team of experienced marketing professionals, working closely with clients and discipline leads to help define strategy, plan media and execute high-performing campaigns across a range of products.
  • You will contribute to maintaining the overall health of the client relationship, working with the wider Essence team to devise and execute growth plans working with an overall client team.

  • Our clients are typically strategic, smart and results driven – you’ll need to be the same. You will become a trusted advisor to those clients, both advising and influencing strategy and challenging them when required.
  • Own the relationship with key assigned experienced clients, ensuring their satisfaction & Essence’s work quality across their remit. Becoming a go to person who is able to have honest conversations and give an opinion on what we should & should not be doing - being able to push back where needed is a necessity.
  • Drive revenue across our key client account and support business growth initiatives within EMEA
  • Be a key voice in the room , we work across a large interdisciplinary team and you will need to be a voice that the team can follow by setting the right pace, example & ambition.
  • Understand the definition of best-in-class work quality and ensure our work meets and exceeds our clients’ expectations every time.
  • Be a strong critical eye ensuring storytelling is clear throughout all of the work we produce as an agency.
  • Oversee the delivery of brilliant people processes that enable exceptional personal development for our people and make them feel valued - both through line management of the Account Directors & through ‘managing by influence’ to a much wider cross functional team.
  • Mentor/coach others in becoming ‘trusted advisors’ for their clients, helping them take responsibility for client satisfaction in parallel to revenue generation and profitability
  • Drive internal thought leadership and team process/workflow enhancement, increasing work quality, making us more efficient, and improving Essential satisfaction.
  • Calculate the workload implication of new campaigns and feed into resource management.
  • Provide awareness and recognition for jobs well done.

A bit about yourself

  • Proven experience in Client Service/ Media Planning, gaining solid understanding of the principles of marketing and advertising, as well as running and motivating teams.
  • A proven track record in defining and leading large client relationships and marketing campaigns on fast moving accounts.
  • Able to comfortably navigate and understand both granular technical detail and big-picture narratives depending on the situation
  • Exceptional presentation skills, with experience of presenting and securing buy-in at the highest level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate the complex in a clear and concise manner
  • A passion for all things digital combined with a drive to stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and news
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver results
  • A belief in open, candid and honest communication at all times, both internally and with clients
  • A desire to empower those around you - you look to trust, empower and coach to unleash potential.
