We are seeking an experienced Japan B2B media professional to oversee media planning, buying and execution for a global technology client. You would have deep prior experience with the Japan media landscape and technology based clients, and deliver superior value creation by working collaboratively with local, regional and global colleagues to deliver best in class service and delivery to the clients.

You would be fluent in business Japanese and comfortable in English; and are a skilful communicator in the local Japanese context. Ability to win trust from clients, and internal teams is a must; ensuring commitments made to clients are specific, deliverable and ideally exceeded.

Clients, as well as internal local and regional teams will look to you as the media expert and strategic lead of the business. The role will drive the rapid development of excellence and efficiency in our offering across our clients establishing MediaCom as the industry leader for delivering growth to clients.

Responsibilities of the role: 

  • Key client POC
  • Internal and external stakeholder relationship management
  • Develop strong relationships with key B2B media in Japan
  • Be the authority and go-to person on Japan B2B audience, media landscape and best practices
  • Work with regional team to cascade over-arching strategy into locally relevant approach
  • Lead the planning and execution for
    • Engagement campaigns (content syndication)
    • Lead Generation campaigns
  • Manage internal partners to ensure deliveries exceed client expectations
  • Lead and assist more junior members of the strategy team to ensure their development

Measures of success –

In three months,

  • Gained the respect of internal team and global/ regional stakeholders
  • Create effective communication between internal regional – local team, and Japan clients
  • Demonstrated deep, insightful understanding of Japan media landscape and strategic ability to make media work for clients

In six months,

  • Demonstrate success in activating B2B media relationships to deliver value for client
  • Delivered positive change and tangible value to the business

In twelve months,

  • Optimized the team structure as required
  • Be described as our clients’ lead business partner across key accounts

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with client relationship management, media strategy and planning, and/or technology/ B2B focused clients
  • Bilingual preferred; Japanese and English; with fluency in one language and basic/business communication in the other.
  • Proactive, strategic and professional viewpoints exchange and engagement with the senior clients
  • Experience developing communication strategy, in either a marketing, media, or brand environment and coordinating plans across teams/agencies/client org
  • Proven initiative and commitment to develop new solutions and opportunities for internal and external partners.
  • Strong leadership to work collaboratively in a strategic and productive way towards clear common goals to bring pre-aligned tangible achievements.
  • Chemistry match with a good interpersonal relationship with the key senior clients to make the partnership work.
