Description

Position Purpose

Provide in-house materials and chemicals monitoring and testing to ensure quality, maintain product consistency and meet production demands.
 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work safely with hazardous chemicals and piping systems, in production clean rooms, confined spaces, and while wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
  • Respond with timely action to out-of-spec conditions that negatively affect production areas 
  • Monitor chemical systems to ensure normal and efficient operation
  • Train and develop knowledge of the analytical methods assigned in each area
  • Prepare samples for routine chemical analysis and make up solutions used in various analytical procedures
  • Calculate the quantities of the required ingredients to adjust the entire batch and communicate the “adjustment” requirements to the production floor
  • Perform those functions necessary for the performance of testing such as sample collection and preparation, cleaning of glassware and test equipment, refilling the solvents and solutions, preparation of reagents and materials
  • Responsible for maintaining sample system, including stand sample release, sample organization, and sample storage and disposal functions 
  • Filling work orders for internal customers
  • Responsible for cleanliness and orderliness of sample storage, hazardous materials storage, personal work area and the common-use areas of the lab
  • Carry out routine chemical analysis requests from all areas of the Corporation including our customers
  • Assist the Production Manager by taking on active roles in maintaining various inventories and organizing the SVC contents 
  • Receive customer requests, procure and deliver chemicals from CDC 
  • Follow proper Energy Isolation Procedures
  • Order stock and maintaining equipment and supplies 
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • A relevant degree such as an associate and/or bachelor's degree in chemistry, Associates, Technical, Science, Chemical Engineering, Education, Biology, Chemical Technology, Engineering, Industrial 
  • Chemical knowledge - physical properties, potential hazards, compatibility with other chemicals and materials, routine PPE requirements, spill cleanup
  • Production equipment knowledge - communications and plumbing interface between our chemical distribution systems and production equipment, and the equipment’s chemical fill requirements
  • Familiarity with chemical system design, equipment, requirements and applications 
  • High level of self-motivation with a demonstrated ability to work independently 
  • Comfort level working around chemical systems, multiple facilities systems, electrical power systems and hazardous materials
  • Must possess good math and observation skills 
  • Must demonstrate proficiency using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes 
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word desired 
  • Willingness to work various shifts and holidays when required 
  • Must have reading, speaking, writing, and understanding skills in the English language.
