Position Purpose

The Aircraft Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for complex part fabrication/manufacturing.  This position performs maintenance and manufacturing tasks to aircraft, aircraft parts and components in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Erickson requirements, and safety practices.

 
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform restoration work on aircraft sheet metal components.
  • Repair and fabricate new parts from original parts, blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Read and interpret mechanical/engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, safely and with care and precision.
  • Understand and follow direction with general supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • A&P license desired but not required.
  • 1+ years’ experience (5+ preferred) fabricating/manufacturing airframe or marine parts and using sheet metal tools and equipment.
  • Any experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, aircraft fabric, painting, or aircraft assembly or final assembly is a bonus but not required.
  • Proven technical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Standard Tool Kit required.
  • Criminal Background Check & Compliant to FAA Drug and Alcohol screening checks are mandatory.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and written.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Any other job-related duties assigned with the highest level of ethics, integrity, safety, and honesty.
  • Be able to lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to climb ladders, apply finger and hand dexterity in using hand tools, be able to move around the shop/hangar area and within aircraft continuously throughout the workday.
