Epperson Veterinary Services is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Evansville, IN

You will work closely with our doctor and technicians to increase the efficiency of our hospital as well as the level of care we provide as a team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 
  • Safely and effectively restrain dogs and cats 
  • Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures including: 
    • Collecting blood and urine samples 
    • Place intravenous (IV) catheters
    • Express anal glands and perform nail trims
    • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
    • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (radiograph machine, blood analyzers)
    • Administer medications, vaccines and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
    • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical procedures
    • Provide post-operative care and monitor patient recovery
  • Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record  
  • Educate clients on nutrition, preventive care, medications and overall pet health
  • Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas 
  • Restock and organize medical supplies 
  • Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set 
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • 2 years of professional experience, required
  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve  
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks effectively 
  • A team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude 
  • Detail-oriented due to the high-level of quality medicine
  • Ability to lift and restrain pets up to 40 lbs.
Schedule: 
  • This is a part-time role with a schedule of 2 days per week.
  • Our hospital is open Monday - Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. We are closed for lunch from 12:00-1:00pm.
