Epperson Veterinary Services is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Evansville, IN!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Safely and effectively restrain dogs and cats
- Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures including:
- Collecting blood and urine samples
- Place intravenous (IV) catheters
- Express anal glands and perform nail trims
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (radiograph machine, blood analyzers)
- Administer medications, vaccines and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical procedures
- Provide post-operative care and monitor patient recovery
- Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record
- Educate clients on nutrition, preventive care, medications and overall pet health
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
- Restock and organize medical supplies
- Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2 years of professional experience, required
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve
- Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks effectively
- A team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude
- Detail-oriented due to the high-level of quality medicine
- Ability to lift and restrain pets up to 40 lbs.
Schedule:
- This is a part-time role with a schedule of 2 days per week.
- Our hospital is open Monday - Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. We are closed for lunch from 12:00-1:00pm.
