The Role:

The Business Analyst is responsible for providing technical and domain guidance to new and existing clients to ensure best practices are maintained while meeting specific business requirements utilizing Optimizely’s B2B Commerce solutions. In this role, you will lead elicitation of client requirements, functional business solution design, and define applicable user stories.


  • Elicit and document system requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Analyze, capture, document and illustrate customer’s existing and future business processes and requirements
  • Strong analytical and product knowledge skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements and work with developers
  • Coordinate technical sessions by providing detailed product overviews and determining the customer’s integration and development plans
  • Play a key role in an agile team by defining and managing backlog, sprint, epics, stories, and tasks.
  • Responsible for developing comprehensive project requirements, including functional design and feature criteria.
  • Works with designer, architect, developer and project manager to prepare specification documents, wireframes and additional data models as needed
  • Prepares initial User Stories, including narrative and functional acceptance criteria
  • Assists the development team for site production, as needed and provides site support, as needed. Participates in regular project scrums with development, design and project management teams
  • Partners with internal Project Management to ensure the solution is aligned with the technical and financial project scope.
  • Identifies and defines the required integration points, along with the necessary detailed documentation including field mapping and technical processes, based on the Requirements Workshop.
  • Collaborates with internal development team to establish initial work estimates for the identified set of customizations.
  • Serves as an SME to the internal development and implementation team throughout the lifecycle of the project.


  • 3+ years managing software user experience/web design requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to define concise and comprehensive specifications.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication excellence, including experience drafting technical specification documentation and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with eCommerce related systems preferred, including payment gateways, tax systems, content management systems (CMS), product information management (PIM) systems, etc.

Preferred Experience:

  • Consultant with experience managing business requirements across multiple projects
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution systems, product fulfillment, customer service operations and business processes.
