Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) job opening in Portsmouth, Virginia
Location: Portsmouth, VA
Schedule: Monday-Friday
What You'll Do
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate over 13,000 pieces of biomedical equipment including defibrillators, ventilators, infusion pumps, and wound vacuums.
- Respond to service calls throughout the hospital and outlying clinics.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure all devices meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Document all repairs, calibrations, and maintenance actions in the MTF’s systems.
- Support inspections, audits, and inventory management activities.
- Maintain productivity standards equivalent to government personnel in similar roles.
What you’ll need
- Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Engineering; OR Completion of a GE Healthcare Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship; OR High school diploma/GED plus 4 years of related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a BMET or Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
