Research Nurse – Clinical Research (Dermatology / Microbiome Studies)

We are seeking an experienced Research Nurse to support outpatient clinical research within the Cutaneous Microbiome and Inflammation Unit (CMIU), Dermatology Branch at the National Institutes of Health. This role is ideal for a clinically strong RN with hands-on experience in human subjects research, regulatory compliance, and protocol-driven care.
You will play a critical role in supporting federally funded dermatology and microbiome research studies, working closely with Principal Investigators, IRBs, clinical staff, and research participants.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct clinical nursing care for outpatient research participants
• Recruit, screen, enroll, educate, and follow research subjects throughout study participation
• Coordinate study visits, protocol-mandated labs, procedures, and biospecimen collection
• Maintain regulatory documentation across multiple concurrent research protocols
• Interface with IRBs and auditing bodies to support compliance and reporting requirements
• Support data integrity, documentation, and audit readiness
• Serve as liaison between investigators, clinical teams, laboratory staff, and collaborators
• Assist with protocol development, procedure manuals, and case report forms
• Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives
• Support ClinicalTrials.gov close-out responsibilities when applicable
 
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Nursing OR Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of specialized experience
• Current, active RN license (any U.S. state)
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
• Prior experience in a clinical research environment
• Working knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines
• Strong experience with clinical documentation and data management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
 
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting NIH or academic medical center research
• Dermatology or outpatient research experience
• Experience working with IRBs and regulatory submissions
