We are hiring a full-time permanent Manager, Asset Management position working out of Hugh J Bolton Service Center, located in Edmonton, AB.

 

The Manager, Asset Management oversees distribution assets in the City of Edmonton on behalf of EPCOR, leading medium to large capital projects and programs from risk identification through to commissioning using sound engineering and asset management practices. The role is accountable for building and leading a high-performing team, ensuring effective planning, budget management, stakeholder coordination, and successful project delivery.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Integrated Planning, this role manages multiple capital and operational portfolios and plays a key role in advancing asset management strategies and investment planning for the distribution system.

What You’d Be Responsible For

Leadership & Strategy

  • Contribute to EDTI plans and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with EDI Asset Management strategy across Integrated Planning and Distribution Engineering teams
  • Translate business plans into clear, stratum-appropriate (3–12 month) deliverables aligned with mission, vision, and operational priorities
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across EPCOR to ensure integrated planning and delivery

 

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of Asset Management professionals
  • Oversee recruitment, workforce planning, coaching, and performance management
  • Mentor professionals to strengthen organizational capability

 

Asset & Capital Planning

  • Develop and manage short-, mid-, and long-term capital and operational plans (annual, 5-year and 10-year horizons)
  • Identify and balance investment priorities to optimize asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle costs
  • Collaborate with System Planning, Operations, Engineering, PMO, and external stakeholders

 

Financial & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets, including forecasting and variance analysis
  • Provide ongoing reporting: monthly project status, GL reviews, dashboards, and executive updates
  • Drive accountability for results and continuous improvement in performance outcomes

 

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure asset management processes meet corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation expectations
  • Support regulatory filings (AUC/PBR frameworks), including capital trackers, true-ups, and documentation
  • Champion safety, compliance, and operational excellence

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead development and implementation of new programs, including within-year and zero-based initiatives
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in asset management practices

 

What’s Required to be Successful

 

Knowledge/Education

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional designation as a P.Eng. or P.L. (Professional Licensee)
  • 10+ years of experience in asset management, engineering design, system planning, and/or project management
  • Experience in asset management within a utility or infrastructure environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects, programs, and portfolios, with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Proven ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through execution, applying sound technical and asset management principles
