We are hiring one full-time, permanent Manager, Communications position working out of Edmonton, AB.

 

The Manager, Communications role is accountable for delivering strategic external and internal communications support for our Electricity Operations’ team. You will lead a team of communication professionals and help to advance projects and initiatives that align with Electricity Operations’ business goals.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Lead the development and implementation of communications plans and products that achieve business goals and align with corporate strategy
  • Oversee and play a hands-on role in the execution of day-to-day operational communications activities
  • Recruit, develop and lead a strong and diverse team, including setting appropriate goals and expectations with corresponding performance metrics
  • Recommend, gain buy-in for and implement solutions to enhance customer and employee engagement. Continually define ways to increase stakeholder satisfaction and deepen working relationships internally and externally
  • Build relationships and collaborate across the Communications & Public Engagement team to ensure consistency in approach and drive efficiencies in the execution of our work
  • Identify and analyze issues impacting Electricity Operations’ business and establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure objectives are achieved
  • Manage operational and business issues from both an employee and public perspective to mitigate reputation risk, and advance EPCOR positions and messaging
  • Provide leadership and support for crisis and emergency response communications pertaining to Electricity Operations, 24/7
  • Participate in the budget planning process and the associated regulatory activities

What’s required to be successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in the communications field, including demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Demonstrated success in delivering effective, measurable communications programs leveraging both social, digital and traditional communications
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience managing people is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, HTML, Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop, Microsoft Sharepoint
  • Experience managing budgets, with an understanding of financial reports
  • Strong communicator in all formats, with a track record that shows excellent judgment, critical thinking, and an ability to weave your communications/public relations expertise into varied products
  • Applies sound communications fundamentals to projects and initiatives
  • Effective team leader and collaborator, who focuses on creating a positive work culture
