We are hiring a full time Maintenance Operator I or II position working out of El Mirage, Arizona location.  

This individual will perform work involving the operation and maintenance of water plants, well sites and wastewater facilities; monitoring operations, canvassing the process and perform various maintenance functions as needed in EPCOR’s Central division.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Participates in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all related plant process equipment including: pumps, motors, chlorinators, and chemical feed systems to ensure treated water meets County, State and EPA quality standards.
  • Work as part of a team with other employees both in Maintenance and Operations.
  • Receive job assignments through (CMMS) work orders and verbal instructions from Lead Operator, Foreman and Supervisor, and is expected to carryout projects through to completion.
  • Perform maintenance duties including repairs/replacement, troubleshooting and improving water production and treatment facilities infrastructure.
  • Position has the potential for exposure to dust, pollen, hazardous chemicals (Chlorine/Bleach, Sulfuric Acid, and Sodium Hydroxide), fumes, sewage matter and potable/unpotable water. Must be able to tolerate extreme heat.

What’s required to be successful

  • ADEQ Grade 1 Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collections (or able to obtain at one ADEQ certification within 1 year of hire). Additional higher level grade certifications are highly desirable.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Class D Arizona driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance, methods, practices, techniques and servicing requirements of plant and well equipment, storage and distribution facilities, water facilities, wastewater and collection facilities.
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices and principles such as PM requirements, equipment troubleshooting, and Cla-Val troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater facilities. Understand field safety requirements for confined space, fall protection, LOTO, chemical safety, etc.
