We are hiring a full-time Permanent Engineer III, Instrument and Controls working out of Lexington, Texas.

 

In the role you will maintain the overall performance and efficiency of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and data communication networks to ensure secure and reliable operations at our water and wastewater facilities.

 

What you’d be responsible for:

 

  • Provide day-to-day support for operations personnel to ensure that process control systems continue to meet operational requirements efficiently and reliably.
  • Lead the design, review, and implementation of process control systems.
  • Oversee and coordinate contractor installations of process control equipment. Manage occasional contractor projects including scoping and bidding of work.
  • Identify and purchase equipment needed for ongoing process control system maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Instrumentation & Controls team to develop and implement company standards and industry best practices in process control systems.

 

What’s required to be successful:

 

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Industrial Automation, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree required.
  • Capable of programming and configuring programmable logic controllers (PLC) as well as human machine interfaces (HMI) with minimal assistance.  Requires intermediate to advanced computer knowledge including an understanding of some or all of IP networking, SQL databases, Windows Server and Domain management, and use of command line applications such as Telnet. Comfortable working on electrical systems including ability to red-line electrical schematics, interpret P&IDs, and troubleshoot digital and analog signals using multimeters and process meters. Cybersecurity knowledge including familiarity with firewalls and network segmentation concepts such as a DMZ is a plus.
  • Four (4) years of experience with design, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of process control systems.
    • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Wonderware HMIs preferred.
    • Some experience providing field support to operations or maintenance teams preferred.
    • Experience with data communication networks including Ethernet/IP and radio telemetry preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Occasional travel is required to facilities outside the Taylor/Austin area.
