Highlights of the job

 

We are hiring a full-time, permanent Senior Advisor, Content and Social Media professional who will be working out of Edmonton, AB. This is a brand-new role and it is eligible for our hybrid Where We Work program.

 

As Senior Advisor, Content and Social Media, you’ll lead Encor by EPCOR’s digital storytelling—creating engaging content that builds our brand, draws in new customers, grows customer loyalty and strengthens our online presence. You’ll manage digital strategies across social platforms, respond to public and customer interactions, and support communications during crises. You’re highly creative, audience-focused collaborative and always looking for new ways to connect and improve.

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Providing a social strategy with clear plans and direction for Encor’s digital presence.
  • Connecting marketing efforts to broader business goals for measurable impact.
  • Idea generation and developing platform-specific content (copy, video, artwork, postproduction) to build trust and engagement.
  • Working with colleagues to run paid campaigns to augment our social efforts, reach target demographics and meet business objectives.
  • Managing website content to engage customers, stakeholders and employees.
  • Collaborate on UX best practices to improve online experiences.
  • Monitoring and analyzing digital performance using web and social analytics.
  • Engaging with followers and fostering community around the brand.
  • Collaborating with influencers and tracking trends to expand reach.
  • Aligning digital efforts with EUI and Communications & Public Engagement strategy.
  • Managing agency partnerships for content development and program support.
  • Identifying budget needs and evaluating technology for social media management and analytics.
  • Delivering results across key metrics: brand reputation, performance targets, customer satisfaction.
  • Building strong relationships across teams and partners to drive shared success.
  • Continuous learning in emerging digital tools and applying insights to real-world scenarios.

 

 

What’s required to be successful

 

Qualifications, experience and behaviours you possess are:

 

  • Completion of a Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing (or a related field) from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.
  • 5+ years of experience in the social media or communications field focused on online media channels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Content Creation tools (i.e. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Photoshop), Microsoft SharePoint, information architecture, blogging software, and web usability.
  • Ability to apply sound communications/public relations/marketing fundamentals to every project.
  • Ability to maintain multiple projects while maintaining a high quality of work.
  • Excellent copywriting skills with an ability to be succinct while conveying personality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment.
  • Engaged in current digital concepts, techniques, trends with an eye towards what’s next.
  • Actively use social media (Instagram, X, Facebook, Tik Tok, etc.); ability to analyze strengths, weaknesses, and relevance to the organization, while also predicting trends on the horizon.
  • Artistic eye with design, photography and/or videography experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager and Emplifi is considered an asset.

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly

Wage: Starting at $50.95 per hour 

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
