We are hiring one full time, temporary (up to 12 months) Senior Advisor, Communications position working out of the Hugh J. Bolton Service Centre.
The Senior Advisor, Communications plays a key role in partnering with internal stakeholders to identify communication needs and develop strategic solutions that support both business objectives and corporate priorities. This position is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive communication plans that leverage a variety of channels—from traditional media to digital platforms—to ensure messages are effectively delivered to the right audiences and drive the intended outcomes.
This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.
What you’d be responsible for
- Develop and deliver strategic communications plans and products to engage and inform customers and employees about business priorities, projects, and initiatives, while leading the collaborative tactical execution of complex, multi-faceted communication projects
- Lead the creation and implementation of digital communication strategies that align with the business unit’s goals and enhance engagement
- Manage the full project lifecycle for digital communications initiatives, including planning, scheduling, delivering and measuring projects to meet business requirements
- Produce compelling digital content tailored for various online platforms, such as social media and websites, that ensures effective messaging and a consistent narrative
- Adhere to a high editorial standard and best practices in writing and editing content for channels that include website, briefing notes, promotional materials, and social media platforms
- Recommend process improvements that enhance the customer experience
- Collaborate with partners, vendors and contractors whose services achieve desired outcomes
- Develop project briefs and coordinate design projects, while understanding EPCOR’s brand standards and applying them appropriately to all communications
- Coordinate primary research and source relevant secondary research to inform communications plans and support evaluation. Interpret data effectively and provide summaries as required
- Acting as an on-call, after-hours media contact on a rotating basis with other senior communicators
What’s required to be successful
- Bachelor’s degree with preference to an education in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing is required
- 4–6 years of internal and external expertise delivering effective, measurable communications across a range of communications channels, including digital/social media
- Experience in developing stakeholder communications materials and presentations and knowledge of customer experience trends
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and social media and web analytics programs
- Excellent research, writing and editing skills across print and digital channels.
- Proven project management and communication planning skills, including a high degree of comfort in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift
- Experience in issues management, including media relations and emergency communications
- Understanding of the utility industry, Alberta power markets and regulated businesses are assets
- Strong collaboration and relationship building skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization to recommend appropriate communications channels and messaging
- Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team dynamic

Wage: Starting at $50.95 per hour. (Final Wage and step will be determined at the time of selection and is subject to change based on the ratification of the new Collective Agreement.)
Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
