We are hiring a full-time, permanent Specialist, Security position working out of Edmonton, AB.

As the Specialist, Security, you work as part of a team that designs, implements and maintains physical security systems at EPCOR locations. You would be responsible to provide subject matter expertise in the application of Physical Security System technology for the security of personnel and assets. You would be accountable to design and implement changes, conduct repairs and perform maintenance activities while ensuring compliance requirements are met. This position is within IS Infrastructure Services, supporting physical security systems and underlying technology. You would work closely with business unit stakeholders to identify requirements, with our integrator to install and service equipment and with Physical Security Operations in the use of technology.

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Monitoring and maintaining systems (licensing, system health, etc.), system access management, and system change management.
  • Maintaining documentation supporting ARS CIP program and completing ARS CIP activities such as system access reviews/ reports, patching assessments, and baseline reviews.
  • Designing, documenting, implementing, and testing changes to the security systems.
  • Planning, coordinating, implementing, and testing system patches and upgrades.
  • Triaging system issues.
  • Investigating and implementing changes to resolve system issues.
  • Leading post incident reviews (PIR) and documenting outcomes.
  • Conducting and documenting site surveys; estimating costs, resources, and effort.
  • Installing equipment, and programming and configuring the security systems.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and development systems, equipment panels, cameras, and other applicable hardware.
  • Providing reports on system operation and other ad hoc report requests related to system logs, events, and activities.
  • Adhering with EPCOR’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and practices.
  • Recommending, documenting, implementing, and communicating changes made to the security system or processes/ procedures.
  • Interpreting manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams or troubleshooting existing systems.
  • Analyzing work orders, planning daily travel schedule, investigating complaints, conducting tests, and resolving problems; documenting the service and actions taken.
  • Developing and building simplified user guides or manuals to support the end user in the operation of the security systems.
  • Managing inventory requirements and providing recommendations on equipment sparing.
  • Complying with all related legislation to specific EUI business units (BU).
  • Providing input to budget allocations per BU; assisting with receiving and validating invoice transaction details; and ensuring purchase order numbers are assigned and created as needed.
  • Assisting with accountability and management for ‘invoice on-hold’ reports.
  • Assuming duties of the On-Call Physical Security System Support on a rotational basis, supporting and responding to various urgent system issues outside of business hours.
  • Providing access, reviewing implementation plans, and testing/ validating work is completed according to standards for subcontractors and co-workers.
  • Reporting non-compliance with EPCOR’s standards/Policies to management.
  • Monitoring security systems and processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in a Business, Engineering or Computer Science related field.
  • Certification in Physical Security hardware and systems such as:
    • C-Cure, Genetec, and Key Management Systems.
  • 10+ years of related work experience which includes:
    • 7+ years of Physical Security System Operations experience.
  • Experience in a utility environment is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge (or experience) with Access Control Systems, CCTV/ Intrusion Detection systems, and Key Management systems.
  • Strong knowledge and background of security industry, tools, techniques and applications.
  • Knowledge of EPCOR’s organizational structure and Policies.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn, configure, and update software and cloud applications efficiently. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.) and MS SharePoint.
  • Ability to demonstrate confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand and read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to work systematically, present problem analysis, and recommend solutions.
  • Prior work with EPCOR would be considered an asset.
  • ARS CIP knowledge and experience would be considered an asset.
