EPCOR is hiring a full-time IT Systems Specialist position in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This hybrid position will require occasional (25%) travel to EPCOR locations within the Phoenix and AZ service areas. Potential for overnight travel as well. 

 

The IT Systems Specialist is accountable for IS Server and Storage services. This includes functions such as day to day operations, break/fixes and process improvements and enhancements to systems related to our Windows, Linux and domain infrastructure as well as storage and backup technologies.

 

The IT Systems Specialist is accountable to the Manager, Server and Storage Services, and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by Senior Manager, Infrastructure Operations.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Providing input to Infrastructure and Operations plans and directions, and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions, business units, service providers and end users.
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics including: 
    project and operational delivery times, client satisfaction, ticket response targets, resolution targets, availability and service quality.
  • Accountable for providing input into the Server and Storage Services roadmap to ensure proper maintenance and update of core technology.
  • Evaluating and approving changes to IS Infrastructure, with the intent of protecting the operational integrity of EPCOR's IS systems.
  • Working with the Immediate Manager and IS Infrastructure support teams, develop, implement, and review operational processes and procedures to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.
  • Acting as a point of contact and liaison between the support teams, EPCOR business units and IT representatives for day-to-day issues related to the infrastructure operations team.
  • Assisting other IS areas with troubleshooting activities and support issues concerning IS Infrastructure components as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Assisting with incident management activities.
  • Working with third-party vendors and support teams to remediate issues, deficiencies and vulnerabilities identified in the server and storage environment.
  • Responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining document repositories, including process and inventory documentation.
  • Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

What’s required to be successful

  • Associate’s degree in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, or equivalent combination of experience and training in a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years directly related experience, including:
    Minimum of 5 years experience with IS Infrastructure Operations
  • ITIL v4.0 certification is an asset.
  • Strong background in Linux and Windows technologies, including File Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS and ADDS in an enterprise environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating scripts to automate tasks, gather system information or make changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and report on scheduled tasks.
  • Advanced skills in system administration and technology-specific toolsets.
  • Advanced technology troubleshooting skills and capability to manage major incidents.
  • Advanced critical thinking and analysis skills, especially with respect to IT Infrastructure technologies.
  • Background in Infrastructure system design/assessment will be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of IT business continuity, security, and other risk assessment and optimization methodologies.
  • Ability to understand and communicate key concepts.
  • Excellent documentation and process improvement skills.
  • Understanding of ITIL working practices.
  • Comprehensive IT Infrastructure knowledge of server, storage, backup and networking hardware.
  • Knowledge of NERC/CIP reliability standards would be an asset.
