Highlights of the Role

 

As a Water Operations Supervisor, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of EPCOR’s Surface Water Treatment and/or Plants-Booster Pump facilities. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll provide leadership, technical guidance, and support for daily operations. This includes troubleshooting plant issues, assisting with O&M procedures, and supporting start-up activities for new facilities or processes. You’ll also champion staff development through technical training, safety programs, and preventive/corrective maintenance initiatives.

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Provide guidance to Foremen, Lead Operators, and Plant Operators on general plant operations and process optimization
  • Issue job assignments through clear written and verbal instructions as needed
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, contractors, and regulators to build strong, respectful relationships and ensure timely, accurate reporting
  • Assist Foremen with process control, review time input, effluent quality, and production reports
  • Support development and administration of Capital and O&M budgets for assigned facilities
  • Perform additional responsibilities as designated by the Operations Manager
  • Allow for rotational assignments between Ground Water and Surface Water

 

What’s Required to Be Successful

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum five years of hands-on experience in water utility operations
  • Minimum three years of experience in a supervisory role
  • ADEQ Grade 4 certification in Water Treatment and Distribution
  • Strong knowledge of water operations, treatment methods, and booster station pumping facilities
  • Understanding safety practices for electrical and mechanical equipment in water facilities
  • Ability to develop O&M budgets, SOP, manpower plans, work schedules, and capital projects from concept to completion
  • Skilled in writing clear reports, memos, and correspondence on operational and personnel matters
  • Effective communicator with the ability to supervise a diverse workforce and collaborate with regulators, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Oracle, HACH WIMS RIO, IProcurement and IVARA
  • Ability to act independently, exercise sound judgment, and assume Operations Manager responsibilities when needed
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to respond to callouts during evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergencies
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, chemicals, sewage, and extreme heat
