We are hiring up to two (2) full-time, temporary Labourer 2 positions working out of Edmonton, AB.

The Labourer 2 is accountable for grounds and housekeeping maintenance of flow control lift stations. This includes ensuring achieving route maintenance with time spans (longest target completion time) of up to one month.
The Labourer 2 is accountable to the Foreman 1, SMP and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by Manager, Flow Control Mechanical Maintenance.
What you’d be responsible for
- Maintaining housekeeping of vehicles and lift stations.
- Assisting colleagues in problem-solving.
- Setting up equipment and cleaning worksites under Foreman 1's direction.
- Informing Foreman 1 and/or 3 of task progress and recommending improvements.
- Performing manual cleaning and maintenance of infrastructure.
- Safely using and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Completing daily timesheets, safe work plans, and operator log books, including pre-trip vehicle inspections.
- Driving assigned vehicles.
- Assisting other EPCOR areas within Labourer 2 duties.
- Mowing and trimming grass, bushes, and performing landscaping duties using gas-powered equipment.
- Removing snow with plow trucks and/or shovels; applying traction aid with sanding trucks and/or ice melt.
- Performing light cleaning tasks, including refuse collection, bathroom cleaning, and sweeping.
- Providing high-level customer service to promote the EPCOR brand.
- Performing operational duties in water and wastewater utilities.
- Fostering a safety-first attitude and zero injury culture through Safe Work Planning and worksite inspections.
- Demonstrating high performance, discipline, safety, accountability, focus, innovation, and achievement-oriented work ethic.
What’s required to be successful
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent level of secondary education.
- Intermediate knowledge and skill using computers and software programs, including but not limited to IVARA and MS Office suite (email, word processing, spreadsheets).
- Good knowledge and application of EPCOR’s operating policies & procedures, work practices, and standards.
- Alberta Environment Wastewater Collection Certification Level 1 is an asset.
- Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit, which requires a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- Limited to 6 demerits or less at date of hire (prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file).
- A Driver Abstract (5 year commercial type) will be required.
- Drivers with a GDL class may be considered (limited to 3 demerits and pending driving behavior review referenced above).
- Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity inherent to the work performed, as well as to function effectively outside under a variety of weather conditions and through all seasons.
- Ability to work independently under the Working Alone Procedure, and in a team environment.

Wage: starting $27.51 per hour; Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is subject to change based on the ratification of the new Collective Agreement.
