The Opportunity

 

We are seeking experienced, highly proactive Executive Assistants to partner with our Group Vice Presidents (GVPs). This is a high-impact role where you will operate as a trusted advisor—enabling executive effectiveness, shaping priorities, and driving coordination across a complex, fast-paced organization.

 

As a key partner to the GVP, you will anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and bring structure and clarity to a dynamic environment. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and the broader administrative team to ensure seamless coordination across the portfolio.

About the Business Units

 

These roles support leadership across two of EPCOR’s core operations: Electricity Distribution & Transmission (EDTI) and Water Services (EWS)—both essential to delivering safe, reliable services to the communities we serve.

 

One of the roles will support Electricity Distribution & Transmission (EDTI) and is responsible for delivering safe, reliable power to homes and businesses across Edmonton. This includes operating and maintaining the electrical distribution and transmission network, supporting system reliability, enabling growth, and ensuring the infrastructure that powers the city remains resilient and efficient.

 

The second role will support Water Services (EWS) and provides water, wastewater, and drainage services to nearly one million people in Edmonton and surrounding communities. This includes designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical infrastructure that supports public health, environmental sustainability, and community growth.

 

While distinct in function, both business units are united by a shared focus on operational excellence, safety, and delivering essential services that communities rely on every day.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

 

Working under the direction of your GVP, a typical day will include:

  • Managing a complex and ever-changing executive calendar, anticipating conflicts and making informed decisions to protect leadership priorities
  • Coordinating meetings and leadership engagements, including agenda development, materials preparation, logistics, and tracking action items
  • Coordinating executive-level reporting, ensuring materials are accurate, well-structured, and aligned with governance requirements
  • Partnering with Senior Executive Assistants to support Board, Committee, and Leadership reporting, including tracking deliverables and identifying risks or gaps
  • Managing travel arrangements, expense claims, and executive correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and discretion
  • Acting as a central point of coordination across business units, ensuring alignment, clarity, and momentum on key priorities
  • Supporting the planning and execution of team events, leadership visits, and employee engagement activities
  • Maintaining and updating SharePoint content and supporting digital organization within the GVP portfolio
  • Coordinating onboarding, office moves, and organizational changes within the business area
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes and contributing to a high-performing, collaborative EA team

 

What You Bring

 

To thrive in this role, you bring a combination of experience, strong judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment:

 

Experience & Expertise

  • 5+ years supporting senior leaders (Director level or above) in a complex environment
  • Experience supporting executive-level reporting, governance processes, or board materials is an asset
  • Exposure to Board and Committee-level operations is considered a strong asset

Technical Capability

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to enterprise systems (e.g., SharePoint, Oracle)

Professional Capability

  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate needs and think ahead

Education

  • Completion of a high school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent secondary education (including international education)
  • Post-secondary education in administration or a related field is an asset

 

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally between EPCOR sites and facilities within the Edmonton area

Additional notes:

 

  • A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
  • A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
  • To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.

  • The results of this competition may be used to fill similar vacant positions for up to six (6) months.
