EPCOR Water Services is seeking a motivated Engineer in Training (EIT), Pipe Strategies to join our One Water Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of Edmonton’s water and wastewater infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Collaborating with the development community to support and optimize the growth of water and wastewater networks.
- Managing the boundary condition process, including tracking and maintaining future hydraulic models.
- Conducting hydraulic network analyses and preparing boundary condition submissions to support development applications.
- Reviewing and responding to Land Development Applications (LDAs) in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders.

What you’d be responsible for
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Water Pipe Strategies Manager, the EIT Pipe Strategies will be responsible for the following:
Planning & Network Development
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the potable water network.
- Support the development and maintenance of future hydraulic models.
- Conduct hydraulic modelling analysis to inform long-term planning.
- Provide input and support for the Long-Term Plan.
Boundary Conditions & Hydraulic Analysis
- Lead the generation of water boundary condition requests (under supervision of a qualified engineer), supplying external consultants with hydraulic capacity data for network connection points.
- Review hydraulic network analyses submitted by external consultants.
- Track and assess incoming planning inquiries related to development within the City of Edmonton.
Data & GIS Analysis
- Analyze, query, and map data outputs using ArcGIS.
- Compile and interpret data, summarizing findings for internal and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate and coordinate clearly with development community stakeholders.
- Support the review and response to Land Development Applications (LDAs).
Project & Process Support
- Lead projects through the Capital Delivery Model (CDM) process.
- Create project documentation including Pre-Project Requests (PPRs) and Capital Project Justifications (CPJs).
- Ensure delivery of optimal results aligned with performance metrics.
Professional Development & Conduct
- Participate in hydraulic modelling training as needed.
- Demonstrate a high-performance, safety-focused, accountable, and collaborative approach to work.
What’s required to be successful
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation within 5 years.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Basic understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles.
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling software such as Synergi Water and Mike Urban.
- Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS), Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in engineering applications such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and DRAINS.
- Knowledge of data management techniques and ability to interpret engineering drawings, drainage plans, and technical reports.

Other Important Details
- This is a professional-level position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
