EPCOR’s Water Services (EWS) group has a full-time permanent opportunity for an Engineering Support Services Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join the Engineering and Technical Services team working out of our Rossdale Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

 

The Engineering Support Services EIT will be providing technical support to the Pipe Asset Engineering Team through sound engineering principles and practices. You will also ensure that the proper processes are in place and are expected to lead multiple cross functional meetings and assist in updating engineering documents.

What you’d be responsible for

 

You are accountable to Manager, Engineering Support Services and will have the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):

 

  • Managing:
    • The Design and Construction Standards updates. This includes managing the list of proposed changes, researching and making recommendations to the appropriate parties, gaining approvals through Technical Committee/appropriate MOC process, preparing the updated Standards documents, and circulating to internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
    • Updating the Approved Products List including collecting information and gaining approval of new products through the established process.
  • Assisting with building new processes and procedures including identifying and making recommendations for new or modified processes and procedures.
  • Providing training on processes such as ULA reviews and managing related documents.
  • Coordinating and chairing various meetings (Technical Committee, Variance Committee, etc.).
  • Preparing letters of support for AEPA exemption requests.
  • Assisting the engineering teams with technical reviews.
  • Provide technical support to other areas within EPCOR as required.
  • Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders (Linear Projects, WWC Projects, Operations, Maintenance, and One Water Planning) and external stakeholders (City of Edmonton, consultants, suppliers and vendors).

 

What’s required to be successful

 

Qualifications, experience and behaviours you possess are:

 

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.
  • Registered as an EIT with APEGA or eligible for registration with APEGA.
    • If not registered with APEGA must be within 6 months of being hired.
  • 1+ years of experience in engineering design or standards development.
    • Experience in water infrastructure is desired.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • SharePoint knowledge is a valuable asset.
  • Well-developed understanding of design and construction principles of water distribution and transmission infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to:
    • Review product specifications.
    • Analyze data and provide clear and concise reporting.
    • Learn and become proficient in computer applications.

This is a professional level position and that works Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
