We are hiring a Full-Time Temporary position (for up to 18 months) position working out of Edmonton, AB!.

 

Opportunity open to Internal and External candidates.

 

The Analyst, EPCOR Water Services CGR is accountable for the performance of the Capital Governance and Reporting (CGR) team by working with EPCOR Water Services (EWS) construction Project Managers, the Project Management Office, Capital Finance and the Capital Steering Committee.

 

This includes providing project accounting training and support to construction Project Managers throughout the construction project management lifecycle, delivery of appropriate project reporting (monthly, quarterly, budget and year-end), providing expert training in Oracle Projects, and scheduling and participating in the capital steering committee and construction project-level meetings.

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Maintain EWS construction capital projects information systems (Oracle E-Business and Workday Adaptive software suite or equivalent enterprise resource planning software, advanced Microsoft Excel workbooks, Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint, other asset and work management applications).
  • Maintain construction project cost performance data, including expenditure, forecasting and budget history.
  • Analyze the monthly and quarterly project variance and forecast reports for review by leadership and project management groups; organize information for review at the monthly construction Capital Steering Committee.
  • Understand construction project earned value, analyze and report performance monthly, including year-end forecasts and forecasts at completion, at both the construction project and portfolio level.
  • Track and manage external contributions, grant funding and other project accounting cash flow streams.
  • Provide data analytics support to retrieve and make accessible any capital accounting information needed by leadership and project management groups for decision-making at the project, program and portfolio levels.
  • Understand and apply database design and maintenance processes to ensure continued data integrity.
  • Support decision-making through the creation, review and maintenance of Power BI reports as needed by stakeholders and internal consumers of financial accounting information. 
  • Ensure an appropriate understanding of EWS CGR strategies and provide input to EWS CGR plans and directions.
  • Review, understand and incorporate company policies such as Capital Investment and Capitalization policies into daily activities and communicate potential issues in application to Capital Finance for review and assessment.
  • Prepare reports and make presentations at meetings with project management and leadership teams as required.
  • Work with the Manager, CGR to maintain consistent construction project account reporting templates, forms and standards.
  • Provide support and training to stakeholders and internal consumers in the functionality of reporting templates, forms and reports to support accuracy in acquiring monthly project financial reporting, annual budgeting, off-cycle budget adjustments and long-term planning.
  • Maintain collaborative and supportive relationships with interfacing EWS departments and groups including, but not limited to:
    • Project Management Office and individual project and program managers
    • Capital and Operational Finance
    • Regulatory
    • Application Services
  • Ensure an appropriate understanding of capitalization policies and communicate potential issues in application to Capital Finance for review and assessment.

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Completed diploma or degree in business operations management, management accounting or a related project accounting field.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience in project accounting, management accounting and/or construction project portfolio financial performance management.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a Project Management Office or Captial Governance role would be preferred.
  • Experience in database design and maintenance, specifically with Power BI, would be preferred.
  • Understanding of and experience with the project management body of knowledge.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in analyzing technical information and making timely, well rationalized decisions would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, advanced Excel, Power BI and SharePoint)
  • Strong familiarity with Oracle Projects or similar ERP system project management modules.
  • Strong familiarity with SharePoint and workflow approvals will be considered an asset.

Wage: $51.89 - $61.93 per hour

  • (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement that may be found online.)

Hours of work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
