Our mission in Planning is to help EPCOR understand their current systems and anticipate their future needs.  The Engineers and GIS Professionals in Planning use asset data, operations trends, SCADA, engineering analysis, cartographic mapping, and infographics to analyze, develop, and communicate responsible long-term project recommendations for EPCOR’S 10-year capital improvement program.

 

Reporting to our Phoenix, AZ Corporate Office, the successful candidate will work in a dynamic team environment to develop and maintain the 10-year long-term capital improvement program (CIP) recommendations for a variety of assigned water, wastewater, reclaimed, and non-potable systems that EPCOR owns and operates. Remote work opportunities are available for qualified individuals after completing 90 days of employment.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • To manage consultants to complete comprehensive planning studies (CPSs) to proactively identify capital projects needed to sustain and supply organic growth within existing service territories.
  • Perform technical analyses related to demand/loading projections, infrastructure reliability & replacement, water quality trends, and operational optimization.  Complete cost estimates and conceptual/planning level design of water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Work in a team environment and facilitate stakeholder consensus.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: 4-year degree in Civil Engineering, or a related technical degree.  Coursework in water/wastewater distribution and collections systems or facilities is a plus.
  • Certifications & Licenses: Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona is a plus; ADEQ Operator Certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Entry-level, 0-5 years of engineering/operations experience a plus
  • Knowledge: Strong Computer skills in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.  Familiarity with Power BI, ArcGIS Pro, or hydraulic modeling software a plus.
  • Skills: Ability to organize, interpret, and analyze data. Ability to use independent judgment and exercise discretion; problem solve; prioritize and multi-task.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Possess excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting and standing in office/desk while operating a computer; frequent speaking; use of a headset; driving; and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds.  Periodic outdoor field visits to various EPCOR operating sites requiring company provided safety PPE.  Occasional out of area travel to remote Arizona systems or to out of state systems.
