EPCOR is hiring a full-time Distribution Foreman for our San Tan Valley District.

 

Reporting to our office in San Tan Valley, AZ, this individual will provide first-line supervision over employees involved in installing, maintaining, and repairing water mains, services and overseeing and coordinating the daily Meter Reading and Field Service Representative operations to ensure billing of metered services and field customer service regulatory compliance; work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility under the general supervision of an Operations Manager/Distribution Supervisor who reviews work by making work site visits and analyzing job reports.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Supervises the work of crews engaged in installing, cleaning, moving, replacing or repairing water mains, fire hydrants, valves, meter replacements, and service lines of various sizes, or supervising crews engaged in special operations; wastewater collection systems mains, services, manholes, and odor issues. 
  • Oversees the Meter Reader and Field Service Representative workgroups, provides training and coaching, and monitors daily performance and completion of work by staff.
  • Maintains phone contact with utility workers and arranges for the delivery of materials and equipment to job sites.
  • Directs barricading and traffic control where a water main break or service leak occurs in the right-of-way and roadway.
  • Monitors daily FSR activities to assure completion of customer/system generated field service orders and completed within reasonable time.
  • Monitor FSR reports for inconsistent service order notation, repetitive service order completion and improper routing of daily workload.
  • Reviews and analyze Meter Reader and Field Service Representative reports, ensures continuous accountability and accuracy, implements adjustments and changes as needed, develop and maintains performance and productivity reports.
  • Monitors crew activities to ensure that safety and water quality policies are followed. 
  • Contacts property owners, contractors, utility company employees, and other City departments to coordinate the completion of service requests or to resolve problems. 
  • Coordinates the daily use of equipment. 
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. 
  • Oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the assigned team.
  • Performs the more technical and complex tasks of the assigned area.
  • Promotes employee personal development by training team members.
  • Performs other work as required.   

What’s required to be successful

Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in constructing, maintaining, and repairing water distribution and wastewater collection systems.  Hazards of water distribution and wastewater collection system work and safety measures to be observed, including trench safety, hard hat, and vest policies.  Disinfection procedures and comprehend Maricopa Association of Governments and Uniforms Standard Specifications (MAG).

 

Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others.  Work cooperatively with other Company employees.  Observe or monitor objects or people's behavior to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.  Communicate orally with co-workers, customers, or the public in a face-to-face, one-to-one setting or by using a telephone.  Comprehend and make inferences from written material.  Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.  Retrieve data or information from a terminal, PC, or other keyboard device on the ECIS+ customer service request system in order to plan and schedule work activities.  Read and use graphic instructions such as quarter-section maps.  Setup or remove barricades, traffic cones or similar objects.   Principles and practices used of water meter reading operations.  Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.  Basic principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.  Principles and procedures of record keeping.  Operation and appropriate usage of various types of water meters.  Operational characteristics of general maintenance and construction equipment and tools used in work activities.  Operational characteristics of handheld and radio meter reading equipment.  Geography of the area and location of meters.  Principles and practices of customer service.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Valid AZ Driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • At least 6 years of experience in water/wastewater operations.
  • Grade 4 ADEQ certifications in appropriate areas for water or wastewater.
