We are hiring one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Manager, Revenue and Regulatory position working out of Edmonton, AB.

 

This position is eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program (Where We Work)

 

The Manager, Revenue & Regulatory is accountable for the planning, preparation, analysis and timely reporting of regulated water, wastewater collection and treatment revenue in Edmonton and for the surrounding communities EPCOR Water Services serves. This includes ensuring accurate and timely reporting and analysis and achieving the required outcomes with time spans (longest target completion time) of up to 3 - 12 months.

What you’d be responsible for

 

The Manager, Revenue & Regulatory is accountable to the Senior Manager, Revenue & Regulatory, and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by the Senior Manager, Revenue & Regulatory but not limited to:

 

  • Provide input to the Revenue & Regulatory plans and directions, ensure an appropriate understanding of the EUI and Regulated Water Services strategy throughout Revenue & Regulatory and ensure on-going effective positioning and appropriate relationships between other positions in Revenue & Regulatory and in the rest of EUI.
  • Develop and implement stratum appropriate (3 – 12 month) deliverables within the context of the Revenue & Regulatory business plan.
  • Identify the necessary budget requirements for the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for functions supported by Revenue & Regulatory.
  • Ensure the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics. For Revenue & Regulatory, organizing and ensuring completion of accurate and reliable revenue reporting and analysis within prescribed timelines, ensuring the satisfaction of Water Services management through the provision of focused financial analysis and expertise.
  • Develop, implement and review regulated revenue processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of Budgets and Forecasts for the areas supported by Revenue & Regulatory through cooperation with the Water Services Finance Manager responsible for Planning and Reporting and within the prescribed cross-functional accountabilities.
  • Provide guidance to staff while ensuring the completion of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and external audit process requirements for the areas supported by Revenue & Regulatory while also maintaining high quality internal controls, including adherence to CSox requirements.
  • Provide financial information and analysis in support of Water Services regulated rate filings and related compliance filings.
  • Support Water Services management and the Senior Manager, Revenue & Regulatory by managing and leading accounting staff with the objective of ensuring the provision of accurate and reliable revenue reporting and analysis for Edmonton regulated revenues to assist in decision making.
  • Support continuous improvement in the area of revenue reporting and analysis through identifying areas and ideas for improvement and carrying out continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Hire, develop, coach and lead a strong team of employees, including determination of optimal numbers, recruitment, retention, and development.
  • Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

 

 

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Accredited Accounting Designation
  • Diploma or Degree (or Equivalent) in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Understanding of EPCOR Financial Processes and Understanding of current accounting practices and policies
  • 7+ years in progressively responsible accounting roles with 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of utility billing software, specifically SAP and Oracle AR.
  • Understanding and use of Oracle financial system and related support systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically in Excel for financial analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to monitor the adherence to financial accounting practices, policies and accounting standards.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to provide management with relevant financial analysis and input.
