We are recruiting for an exceptional Line Locator to serve our Sandow water treatment plant and pipeline near Lexington, TX.

This individual will be responsible for internal locating and marking services based on 811 call outs for excavation and construction near our pipeline assets. Other duties include maintaining and repairing water pipelines, distribution, collection treatment facilities, well sites and pumping stations including all mechanical and fabrication aspects of related equipment and machinery. Technician will be expected to learn every aspect of the collection and transmission pipelines and associated assets.

This is a hybrid position in which locating services are the priority, however regular maintenance duties will be expected provided there are no impending locates to manage. Field Technician will work closely with the EPCOR inspector during the construction phase to ensure all installation and work follow all proper specifications and guidelines.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Uses maps, blueprints and detectors to locate water pipelines, fiber and utilities along easements and services and marks locations.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping and tracks active locates for the operating plant and pipelines
  • Reviews and monitors the work of the contractors in reference to hitting or damaging mains or service lines
  • Generates reports for submittal to supervisors and management
  • Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of locating devices and equipment
  • Responds to emergency calls from contractors when an unidentified utility is located.
  • Contacts the Engineering Department for update information on new plans and visits construction sites of new mains and services to update the data.
  • Maintains pumps, piping, tanks, valves, and switches, diesel generators at groundwater treatment plants along with well sites, booster stations and reservoirs.
  • Works closely with EPCOR inspector to verify and track 3rd party construction work
  • Installs and makes repairs on water lines, valves, and other components of pump stations.
  • Maintains daily work records and logs. Oversees proper preventative maintenance procedures and schedules maintenance; maintains records pertaining to maintenance schedules, including activities, labor and cost using computerized maintenance management system.
  • May operate equipment such as cranes, forklifts, trenchers, bucket-lifts, small vac-equipment, and dump trucks.
  • Maintain spare parts and supplies for all locating equipment plant and auxiliary station equipment.

 

What’s required to be successful

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in underground locating, field maintenance, water and/or WW plant maintenance, or other mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and records Texas 811 calls, tickets, and other notices
  • Knowledge of line locating equipment and proper upkeep
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with working in traffic.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and effectively communicate field findings to management
  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and translate to proper measurements for locating lines and utilities
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must demonstrate willingness and ability to increase knowledge in maintenance area operations including equipment operation and use.
  • All candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
