EPCOR is hiring a full-time Assistant Water Manager and reporting to our US Corporate office in north-central Phoenix, Arizona.
In this position, you will support the Director of Water Resources in overseeing EPCOR US’s water resources and rights, both long-term and short-term. You’ll handle regulatory affairs, ensuring compliance with permits and state reporting requirements. Additionally, you’ll help develop water policies through interactions with state and federal agencies, the legislature, and various commissions. Managing water conservation and drought management programs will also be a key part of your responsibilities. What you’d be responsible for
- Provide strategic planning for water supply development strategies required to sustain and supply existing Company service territories and future service area expansions.
- Provide input related to water resources development and maintenance costs.
- Develop strategic, strong working relationships with relevant external organizations and regulators.
- Direct Water Conservation Program development and implementation to meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Direct the Company’s water rights reporting function to state and local regulatory agencies related to water usage limits.
What’s required to be successful
- Bachelor’s Degree in Water Law, Water Resources Management, Engineering, or related field. Post Graduate degree a plus.
- Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience in water resources/water conservation planning. Experience working with elected officials, ADWR, the Central Arizona Water Conservation District and other water resource entities.
- Strong leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills, as well as, excellent verbal and written communication and listening abilities (e.g., planning, organization, direction of employees).
- Strong management skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation, ability to motivate, negotiate others).
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Team Builder.
- Proficiency in computer programs and Microsoft Office applications.
- A working understanding of the Groundwater Management Act including the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) Assured Water Supply, Municipal, Recharge and Recovery programs and water right systems.
- A thorough understanding of Arizona water resources opportunities and vulnerabilities, water conservation programs and regulations, water rights law, water supply and demand planning.
- Knowledge of government regulations related to new development including Assured Water Supply and Central Arizona Groundwater Replenishment District.
- Knowledge of government organization, function, and legislative processes.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations impacting water resources and facility operations.

Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to sites throughout Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
