Highlights of the job:

We are recruiting for an exceptional Full Time Maintenance Technician to serve our Blue Sky Wastewater Reclamation Facility in Taylor, TX. The Individual(s) will perform a variety of skilled maintenance work in maintaining and repairing the Blue Sky Wastewater Reclamation Facility; including all mechanical and fabrication aspects of related equipment and machinery. This position is subject to call back, overtime, weekend, and holiday emergency call-outs and on-call duty.  

  

This facility requires 24-hour operation so multiple shifts and on-call may be required.  

Essential Functions:

  • Observes and monitors data, machinery, and equipment to determine compliance with prescribed operating and safety standards.
  • Performs diagnostic evaluation of equipment and recommends corrective action for operational maintenance problems.
  • Responds to emergency call outs, troubleshoots problems and takes actions to ensure plant system integrity.
  • Ensure warehouse inventory is accurate and up to date.
  • Repair and maintain mechanical equipment such as centrifugal, progressive cavity, submersible pumps, valves, motors, basins, MBR, BNR, sludge handling equipment, centrifuges, chemical feeders, blowers, coolers, air compressors, strainers, bag filters, heating equipment and other equipment used in the utility and or industrial facility in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists in unloading, transferring, storing, and using various hazardous chemicals.
  • Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to mechanical maintenance and repair work, including but not limited to lockout procedures and confined space entry procedures.
  • Ensures maintenance operations are conducted to comply with all environmental, health and safety standards established by federal, state, county, and city laws, ordinances, regulations, department and divisional policies.
  • Operates computer-based programs such as computerized maintenance management system.
  • Operates power driven machinery such as forklifts, boom trucks, cranes, jack hammers, tampers, or other similarly sized equipment.
  • Use and care of common hand tools and special tools and equipment used in the maintenance of large complex machinery and equipment.
  • Read and interpret gauges, meters, and other recording devices.
  • Adjust, align and lubricate equipment in compliance with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Clean equipment and facilities using various tools including hoses and power washing equipment.
  • Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (20 feet or more).
  • Maintenance staff will rotate on-call duties, the intervals will be determined.

  

Knowledge of:  

  • Standard process control and operation practices associated with a utility and or industrial industry.
  • Knowledge of condition based maintenance such as thermal imaging, oil analysis, and vibration analysis.
  • Comprehend and interpret drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Learn job-related material through oral instruction and observation or through structured lecture and reading.

  

Ability to: 

  • Identify problems, research and analyze relevant information, develop and present recommendations, and justification for solution.
  • Perform the most complex maintenance and operations duties and operate related equipment safely and effectively.
  • Read, interpret, retrieve, and produce drawings, blueprints, maps, and specifications.
  • Make sound, independent decisions within established policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work such as contractors and vendors.

  

Education and Experience: 

  • 2+ years of related experience in field maintenance, Industrial and or utility plant maintenance, or other related mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience with computer programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.

  

Environmental Elements: 

  

The Maintenance Technician will work in and around utility infrastructure and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. The Maintenance Technician may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives, and contractors in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
