VP, Director of Creative Technology - Development


Role Overview: 

As a senior digital and innovation thought leader, our VP, Director of Creative Technology will provide our clients with solutions from a consultative and execution perspective across the emerging tech spectrum. This individual will manage and mentor a wide range of developers, including but not limited to back-end devs, front-end devs, full-stack devs, and mobile devs, as well as architects, develops engineers, and the QA team. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the continued successful integration of the technology arm with the other sub-departments of Creative Technology - specifically Digital Production and Experience Design.  Strong technical understanding of software architecture and development, digital marketing and media, and data integrity and security.


The VP, Director of Creative Technology - Development will:

  • Operates as the day-to-day creative technology leader across the full roster of agency clients; leading critical technology meetings, coaching talent to showcase the depth of expertise, addressing client’s technology concerns and demands, and engaging in senior-level client relationships positioning EP+Co and Hill Holliday for success.
  • Support the Creative Technology leadership in framing the agency's creative technology offering, and providing strategic and innovative technology solutions for unique client challenges. 
  • Understand growth and profitability goals for the department and work in lockstep with the Chief Operation Officer/Chief Technology Officer to evolve and optimize the creative technology practice to support those goals.
  • Is well versed and understands the importance of how emerging technology is not only being looked at within our clients’ marketing practice but also more broadly across our clients’ organizations. 
  • Oversee day-to-day client expectations including contributing to strategic and executional emerging technology recommendations, ensuring seamless production delivery of development tasks across the team.
  • A player-coach who can successfully balance serving as an innovative leader while also writing code.  Responsible for managing, growing, and developing a team of developers, architects, and develops engineers,  leading and pushing the team outside of their comfort zone to ensure individual, department, and agency success.
  • Stay on the cusp of the fast-changing trends in the emerging technology landscape, helping the team and clients understand the impact of these changes and navigate them successfully. This person is responsible for driving creative technology thought leadership, internally and on behalf of the agency in the marketplace, in the form of mentorship, POVs, client presentations, and new business pitches.  
  • Promotes tech-forward and consumer insight-driven culture by leading teams to incorporate innovation and smart technologies into client solution development.
  • Consults with executive committees and senior management to review, evaluate, and plan corporate-wide strategies and organizational initiatives to continually grow business. Develops strong relationships with creative, strategic brand planning and account management, working together to seek out new opportunities that could augment client initiatives.
  • Educates clients and agency on industry-specific innovations to maintain a technological edge.
  • Work with Account, Media, Strategy, Creative, Decision Science, and IPG teams, fostering collaboration and infusing digital best practices across the organization and client work. 
  • Audit department standards against industry best practices, bringing new process and workflow solutions to help the team scale and deliver better business outcomes.
  • Build and deliver innovation/inspiration sessions for clients & agency, attend critical industry events scaling key learnings across the agency and play a lead digital and innovation role in new business pitches.

Desired Experience:

  • 8+ years in digital/technology development arm of a marketing-oriented role
  • Technology management experience required, ideally in an agency or creative setting.
