POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator will be an integral part of the North Asia regional team and will specialize in supporting members and regional operations in Japan, as well as providing translation support for both written or spoken materials between Japanese and English. This Coordinator will work closely with the Japan Area Manager on providing communication and support for member leaders, chapter officers (including chapter staff). This individual will also be responsible for translating and editing materials created by EO’s global communications team and will partner with multiple stakeholders across the North Asia Region to deliver timely, consistent, and high-quality messages. The Coordinator will work closely with professional staff across functions with a primary goal of creating high quality communication support that is consistent with the EO brand.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works closely with the Regional Manager for Japan and provides administration, translation, and interpretation support.
  • In partnership with North Asia Region professional staff, supports the translation of various materials from Portfolio liaisons, EO’s internal interpretation team, and event vendors as needed.
  • Provides administrative and translation support on calls and at events, ensuring effective communication between Japanese-speaking members and chapter staff and English-speaking global staff and members. 
  • Provides proofreading/editing of translated documents from internal EO teams to ensure EO terminology, message, and brand is well reflected in Japanese.
  • Provides clear and concise communication regarding the direction and requirements of EO to the chapters.
  • Ensures proper representation of the EO Brand across all types of materials provided to members in North Asia.
  • Use and stay updated with new translation tools and practices.
  • Coordinates translation or interpretation vendors for members in Japan as needed.
  • Other projects as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, preferably in support functions and translation. 
  • Ability to travel domestically 20% of the year.
  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese and English.
  • Demonstrated nuanced communicative skills with the ability to work in western, Japanese, and multi-cultural contexts.
  • Ability to deliver in-house translation, proofreading, and interpretation for member calls, EO documents, written emails, etc.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Slack, Teams, Basecamp, customer relationship management (CRM) tools, and project management tools preferred.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in teams with high accountability, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact with entrepreneurs with tact, diplomacy, and poise.
  • Comfort and proficiency in working across cultures, geographies, and time zones.
  • Detail-oriented with a growth mindset, eagerness to learn, and flexibility.
  • International experience is preferred, showcasing adaptability and cultural awareness.
