POSITION SUMMARY
As a Senior Accountant at EO, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s financial records are accurate, compliant, and reliable. You will prepare financial statements and reports for key stakeholders, making sure that all financial activities follow tax regulations and GAAP accounting standards.
 
You will handle day-to-day accounting tasks while working closely with chapter leadership and the global finance team. Together, you'll provide financial insights to guide decision-making and manage budgets. Your efforts will help improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in EO’s financial management.
 
In this role, you will also analyze financial data, support audits, and contribute to strategic projects by offering financial forecasts and scenario planning. Your expertise will be key in helping EO maintain financial stability and achieve its organizational goals.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP and other authorities.
  • Support the development of budgets and financial forecasts, providing insight into performance versus budget.
  • Ensure tax filings and regulatory compliance with tax authorities, working alongside external tax advisors as needed.
  • Provide financial reports and analyses to EO’s Standing Finance Committee (SFC), regions, and chapter leadership, helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and assist with the preparation of audit schedules to ensure timely audit completion.
  • Implement and monitor financial controls to safeguard EO’s financial resources.
  • Train and mentor junior finance staff on best accounting practices and EO’s financial policies.
  • Assist with the implementation of financial policies and procedures that align with EO’s global financial strategies.
  • Support the finance team in improving systems and processes to enhance efficiency and financial reporting.
 
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and financial audits 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, Oracle, or similar) and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience working in a non-profit or membership-based organization preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with EO’s mission, values, and chapter-based operations preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct) and financial modeling tools (Adaptative Insights) preferred.
