The Art Director is responsible for protecting, strengthening, and evolving EO’s visual brand across global, regional, chapter, and member-facing touchpoints. This role owns the creative direction and execution standards for EO’s core brand materials, ensuring they are consistent, elevated, accessible, and easy for teams and chapters to use. 
 
The Art Director also serves as the creative vision lead for EO’s bespoke campaigns, major initiatives, leadership communications, and high-visibility brand moments. This person translates strategy into compelling visual systems that build pride, reinforce EO’s prestige, and deepen member belonging.
 
This role is both a hands-on creative leader and a brand standards owner. The Art Director sets the visual direction, guides designers and freelancers, reviews creative work for quality and consistency, and partners closely with marketing, communications, product marketing, events, digital, and regional teams to ensure EO shows up as one clear, trusted, global brand. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Brand Stewardship and Core EO Materials 
  • Own and maintain EO’s core visual brand materials, including brand guidelines, core templates, executive presentation decks, one-pagers, campaign toolkits, chapter-facing materials, and other high-use global assets. 
  • Ensure EO’s visual identity is applied consistently across global, regional, chapter, and member-facing materials. 
  • Serve as a primary reviewer and advisor for brand standards, including logo use, typography, color, imagery, layout, accessibility, and visual hierarchy. 
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications leadership to evolve EO’s visual system in ways that strengthen prestige, belonging, clarity, and usability. 
  • Develop scalable design systems and templates that empower chapters, regions, portfolios, and staff teams to create on-brand materials with less friction. 
  • Support version control and quality control for core EO materials so the organization has one clear source of truth for current, approved creative assets. 
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, and improve EO’s brand materials for a global audience. 
Campaign Art Direction and Creative Vision 
  • Lead the visual concepting and art direction for bespoke EO campaigns, major launches, member engagement campaigns, leadership initiatives, anniversary moments, and global brand activations. 
  • Translate campaign strategy, audience insights, and messaging into strong creative platforms that can scale across video, digital, social, email, events, print, presentations, and chapter toolkits. 
  • Create campaign visual systems that are distinctive, flexible, and aligned with EO’s global brand standards. 
  • Partner with writers, product marketers, communications leads, video producers, and project managers to shape campaign briefs, creative concepts, and final deliverables. 
  • Provide creative direction for campaign photography, video graphics, motion design, event visuals, presentation design, and social content. 
  • Ensure bespoke campaigns feel elevated and emotionally resonant while remaining clear, practical, and usable across EO’s global network. 
Creative Quality and Production Oversight 
  • Concept, design, review, and approve high-priority creative deliverables across print, digital, web, social, video, presentation, and event formats. 
  • Provide clear creative direction to internal designers, freelance designers, agencies, and production partners. 
  • Review creative work for brand alignment, quality, accuracy, accessibility, and usability before final delivery. 
  • Partner with Creative Operations and Production Management to scope design work, estimate timelines, identify resource needs, and protect creative quality. 
  • Help build creative processes that allow the team to deliver strong work with realistic timelines, clear roles, and appropriate review cycles. 
  • Maintain a high bar for design excellence while supporting the practical needs of a fast-moving, global organization. 
Internal Brand Education and Collaboration 
  • Serve as an internal brand consultant for EO teams, portfolios, regions, and chapter-facing stakeholders. 
  • Educate staff, member leaders, and vendors on EO’s visual brand standards and how to apply them effectively. 
  • Help create training materials, office hours, and guidance that make it easier for others to use EO’s brand correctly. 
  • Partner with regional and chapter stakeholders to recommend and empower brand adoption in a way that creates clarity and reduces friction. 
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure creative solutions meet strategic goals, audience needs, and brand standards. 
  • Stay current on design, accessibility, digital, and visual storytelling trends that can strengthen EO’s brand expression. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, art direction, brand design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • 7+ years of experience in brand design, art direction, visual identity, campaign creative, or creative production. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating brand systems, campaign art direction, layout design, typography, digital design, and multi-channel creative execution. 
  • Experience owning or governing brand standards within a complex organization. 
  • Strong understanding of visual identity systems, typography, color, layout, accessibility, imagery, and production best practices. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma or similar design tools, PowerPoint, and Google Slides. 
  • Ability to create elevated design work while also building practical templates and systems others can use. 
  • Experience directing freelancers, agencies, designers, photographers, motion designers, or production partners. 
  • Strong creative judgment and ability to give clear, actionable feedback. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and brand consistency. 
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with marketing, communications, digital, events, product, regional, and executive stakeholders. 
  • Global mindset and sensitivity to cultural differences, translation needs, accessibility, and local adaptation. 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain creative decisions clearly and confidently. 
  • Multilingual is a plus.

POSTING DISCLOSURES
 
Compensation: EO reasonably and in good faith expects to pay between $112,500 and $129,000 per year for this position upon hire. Final compensation will depend on skills, experience, internal equity, and work location. 
 
Benefits: EO offers medical, dental, and vision coverage along with retirement benefits and life/AD&D insurance. Additional benefits include personal/sick time, vacation time, floating holidays, and professional development reimbursement options.
 
Other Compensation: This position is not eligible for bonus, commission, equity, or other incentive compensation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / ROLE CONDITIONS
 
  • This role is primarily sedentary/light work and requires regular use of a computer, telephone, and video-conference platforms. 
  • The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally and to participate in virtual and in-person meetings.
  • The role requires travel up to _5_%
  • The role requires occasional early morning and evening meetings across multiple time zones and includes supervision of two team members based in the Philippines.
