Job Title:  Firmware Engineer Intern

Job Location: Frederick, MD

Job Description:

We are seeking a Firmware Engineer Intern at our research facility in Frederick, MD. Interns will gain hands-on experience working directly on mission-critical applications. The position offers an opportunity to apply course work experience in an Agile software development lifecycle and expand knowledge with the support of a cross-functional team.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Active participant on Firmware development team utilizing industry best practices.
• Present design to peers and project leadership
• Implement approved design including component testing
• Support peer review process as both reviewer and reviewee
• Create supporting documentation for features
• Work with Quality Assurance team to ensure tasks are verified
• Participate in Agile team activities to include Sprint Standups and Retrospectives

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of one year of undergraduate coursework in a technical degree such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar
• Familiarity with high-level programming language such as C/C++, Python, and scripting tools
• Basic understanding of microprocessor architecture and hardware peripherals such as DMA, interrupts, SPI/I2C/UART, etc.
• Familiarity with HDL (hardware description language) in Verilog/VHDL is a plus
• Familiarity with FPGA development toolsets such as Altera/Intel Quartus or Xilinx ISE/Vivado is a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Must work well with others and be a team player
