Job Description:

The Enterprise, Cloud, and Cyber division of Envistacom is aggressively seeking a proven network systems engineer that can apply systems and software engineering principles to Army software-intensive network and interoperability systems including requirements analysis, planning, design, development, testing, and sustainment, and related documentation. The position will perform systems analysis, assess functional and technical requirements, translate those to network and software objectives and design, and provide traceability to test plans and procedures, hardware and software configuration, installation, and test of requirements-based functions.

Job Duties

The position shall have the following required skills, certifications, and demonstrated experience:

  • Coordinate and lead conceptualization, design, implementation, and configuration optimization of communications systems: computers, servers, virtual network devices (routers, switches, firewall, performance enhancement), LAN, WAN, and encryption devices.
  • Perform hardware and software integration, installation, and testing. Requires knowledge and experience with software/application virtualization (VMWare ESXi).
  • Apply technical expertise to support development, integration, and updates to software in component and system-level test plans and procedures. Applies customer-approved network software and hardware technologies and protocols.
  • Solve technical problems in the functional area to which assigned. Conducts technical analysis and develops solutions in the application of advancing information technology products and configurations.
  • Produce and review hardware and software technical documentation reflecting detailed tactical network products and systems. Documents include software baseline, software version descriptions, detailed technical publications, installation guides, build procedures, white papers, and software incident reports.
  • Participates in creation, review, or update of contract deliverable documents (CDRL). Submits status reports weekly and monthly.
  • Replicate and troubleshoot system or component problems experienced /reported from Army units or team field service representatives (FSR).
  • Establish lab configurations used for development, integration, testing, demonstrations or as directed by senior engineers.
  • Work closely with software developers, systems engineers, cyber analysts, configuration management, and quality management as part of a multifunction team to support Post Deployment Software Sustainment activities on Network Modernization systems.
  • Recommend improved methods, and processes related to team product or service, to improve quality or increase performance efficiency.
  • Temporary Duty travel will be outside the Continental United States as requested and approved by the Customer.

Highly desired skills but not mandatory to perform the work include:

  • Proficiency with VMWare ESXi
  • Experience with Army tactical communications configuration items and systems (WIN-T Inc1, Inc2, NITE, baseband, transport, switches, routers, servers, ethernet and fiber optic standards, Network Modernization systems, and commercial wireless products used in Army tactical systems)
  • Quick learner, creative, analytical thinker, resourceful, and able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Education: BS in Engineering discipline
  • Certification: DOD IAT Level II (CCNA, CCNP) 
  • Experience: 10+ years with network and software-based systems; 5+ years working relevant Army network systems 
  • Experience with Systems/Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) or systems engineering lifecycle
  • Clearance: DOD Secret - The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of hire date
