About the role:  

 

You will be applying your in-depth knowledge and experience in electro-mechanical product

development to the detail design and development of products that use polymers, metals and rubbers and which closely interface with PCBs and high-power electrical components.  

You will be working closely with team members across our global development team, so your spoken and written communication needs to be clear and effective in order to be able to present your ideas, your concepts and your feedback. You will be problem-solving on new product development, identifying and resolving root causes of field failures and implementing effective cost reduction opportunities.  

 

What will you do:  

 

  • Good Exposure in Designing electromechanical products  
  • Basic understanding on UL/IEC and related standards.  
  • Good Exposure on plastics, Sheetmetal, casting part design and manufacturing process  
  • Basic understanding on cable assemblies, ECAD/MCAD integrations  
  • Good exposure on structural and thermal design considerations is a plus  
  • Good Exposure on DFX for high volume production is a plus  
  • Knowledge on prototype techniques for Design development and verification  
  • Good in SolidWorks and EPDM. Knowledge on any other CAD packages will be an added advantage  
  • Exposure on CAE tools is an added advantage  
  • Designing new components and products, sometimes as sole contributor but often as part of a team of contributors
  • Support on Reviewing and analyzing solutions to achieve the best outcome for performance / cost / schedule.  
  • Design, review for DPPM, DFMEA, manufacturing reviews etc  
  • Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance  
  • Failure analysis and root cause identification  
  • Component review and approval, including global travel to be on-site at vendors during pre-production stage.  
  • Generating concept proposals, analysis reports, component specifications, review minutes  
  • Ensure quality by design.

 

Who you are and what you bring:  

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher qualification) in Mechanical Engineering  
  • 5+ years industry work experience in product development  
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) of parts made through injection moulding, sheet metal, stamping, milling/turning  
  • Experience using Computer-Aided evelopment tools (SolidWorks)  
  • Clear communication - verbal and written  
  • Experience in the design and sustaining activities on high-volume products (+500k pa) would be a plus and also previous employment in high-power and consumer products industries would be a plus.
