Based in Melbourne, the General Manager, ANZP (Australia, New Zealand & Pacific) is responsible for leading all partner and customer facing activities in the region.  This includes the development and execution of a quarterly and annual operating plan, and this position reports to the SVP of Americas and APAC.  
       
ANZP business has revenues of tens of millions of $ per year from residential and commercial installations.  There is significant revenue growth potential particularly as battery adoption continues to increase rapidly. 
 
  • The General Manager is based ideally in the Melbourne office.   
  • The goals of the General Manager are to drive increases in revenue and gross margin. Success will be measured in sell-thru revenue, sell-in revenue, gross margin $ and market share. 
  • The General Manager is responsible for growing the ANZP business and gaining market share by developing, implementing and managing an effective strategy and business plan based on a sound understanding of the market and technology
  • The General Manager will also be responsible to fully understand market requirements and competitors and align strategies for the region. Additionally, the General Manager will lead a team to clearly define and market our differentiation and sell the value in our products and services. 
  • The General Manager will actively participate in regional strategy including product directions and specifications. He/she will also be active in communicating the company goals and direction throughout the region. 
  • The General Manager will maintain and foster major partner relationships and actively work to develop new major partner relationships. 
  • The General Manager will determine the critical skills required across the team and the staffing levels necessary to meet business objectives. 
  • He/she will demonstrate effective leadership skills in inspiring, driving and executing results through others, developing and/or upgrading talent as needed to ensure success. 
  • The General Manager will communicate effectively across all levels of the organization including the CEO, create a sense of urgency and inspire a commitment to excellence. 
  • This position requires 30-50% travel to partners and the balance of the time in the Melbourne office. 
 
Required experience and skills include:  
 
  • At least 10 years of solar sales and management experience in a complex sales environment 
  • Thorough understanding of selling to an indirect channel, via distributers   
  • Proven ability to successfully lead Sales for a premium and differentiated product  
  • Experience running a b-to-b business within a multinational public company where success is based on delivering innovative solutions to meet partners requirements. 
  • Hands on approach who enjoys visiting partners 
  • Experience as a General Manager and in leading a sales, applications engineering and marketing. Experience in working with matrixed resources including for Operations, Product Management, Customer Service, Finance and Human Resources.  
  • Effective at creating alignment across the business functions and regions.  
  • Strong leadership, management and organizational skills with high standards; will hire great talent beneath him/her and will develop talent throughout the organization 
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints who enjoys adjusting to changing market conditions and solving complex projects.  
  • Effectively draws on the full talents, resources and information from the organization, employing communication and decision-making processes that are both efficient and inclusive.   
  • Great communication (listening and speaking), presentation, negotiation and influencing skills; will present the bad news and the good news with equal facility across a broad range of audiences; not someone who would bury the bad news trying to “fix it first and then report.”
