About the Role

You are a Mechanical Engineer with experience leading a small team. You have a strong track record in product design and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges at pace. You are technically proficient, a people leader, and capable of managing the scheduling and resourcing of a complex project.

The role reports to the Director of Inverter Technology and will have 2-5 direct reports.

 

Role / Duties

  • Meeting quarterly project progress targets, with goals that come all the way from the CEO
  • Professional development of your team
  • Representing your team to the yearly Performance Focal Group and Promotion Review Board
  • Technical decisions regarding design
  • Managing global suppliers to produce parts and assemblies on schedule
  • Lead design options and reviews; drive optimisation of electromechanical assemblies including EMI/EMC/RI and thermal requirements.
  • Apply DFM/DFA/DFT/DFC principles across the full product lifecycle, including supplier selection and process qualification.
  • Plan and execute engineering verification and reliability testing.
  • Engage cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
  • Identify and resolve design requirement conflicts and ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards.

 

Qualification and Previous Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years’ experience in product or part design, with a strong track record across the full product development lifecycle.
  • Experience in leading and managing other engineers
  • Demonstrable expertise in injection moulding, sheet metal, and CNC machining design and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in an enterprise CAD package — SolidWorks strongly preferred, ideally in a PDM-managed environment.
  • Experience with both investigative and verification testing, including writing test plans and technical reports.

 

What Would Make You Stand Out?

  • 3+ years experience leading a team of 5 people.
  • Designing for product lifetimes of 20–25 years in outdoor, weathered environments.
  • Top-down modelling strategies such as Master Modelling in SolidWorks.
  • Background in connectors, power electronics enclosures, or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with global product compliance and certification processes (e.g. UL, IEC, CE).
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
