This role at Enphase requires working onsite 3 days a week, with plans to transition back to a full 5 day in office schedule over time.
As a Staff Engineer-Hardware-Product Engineering, the candidate will be responsible for owning the sustenance activities of Enphase IQ Gateways and IQ System Controllers. That includes Failure root cause analysis, proposing solutions, Design fix V&V, Alternate component qualification includes wired and wireless communication. Work closely with all cross functional departments towards solution deployment into the field.
- Candidate will be part of owning the product once the product reaches the field
- Prime involvement in Product Engineering activities including root cause analysis, design fix, design verification & validation, and functional testing
- Perform alternate components analysis and qualification with detailed reports
- Fair understanding of firmware algorithms required on embedded systems
- Ability to handle various stages of the product life cycle with ownership and accountability
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as PCB design, compliance, and DVT teams to ensure design meets all requirements
- Coordinate with teams on pre-compliance and final compliance tests, and with the reliability team on reliability tests
- Write engineering requirements, test plans, and validation reports to address gaps
- Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- Mentor junior engineers and supervise their lab work
Who you are and what you bring
- BE/BTech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience (M.Tech with 8+ years’ experience) in hardware design testing, verification, and validation including converters (AC-DC, DC-DC), inverters, SMPS, etc. in relevant industries like UPS, energy storage, or electric vehicles
- Strong power electronics knowledge with expertise in analog and digital designs
- Experience using OrCAD for schematic capture and Cadence Allegro for PCB layout
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Practical experience in in-depth bench testing, V&V testing, and debugging of hardware designs
- Understanding and application of EMC design
- Familiarity with UL & IEC standards on safety & EMI/EMC – IEC61010, 61000-4, 61326-1 etc.
- Hands-on experience and familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power sources, and electronic loads
- Familiarity with modelling and simulation tools like LTSpice, TiNA, PSIM, etc.
