Job Summary - a concise overview of the job

Senior-level Network Architect engineer with 8-10+ years of Networking engineering experience that has forward thinking/vision in design and implementation of data network solutions for a global enterprise network infrastructure.   Continuous assessment of existing configuration of network components to ensure best practices are followed and while maintaining life-cycle management on both hardware and software products.  As Sr. Network Architect engineer, will be point of contact for partnering with our global manage service provider which is responsible for day-to-day operational monitoring of enterprise network reliability and availability.   Maintain working relationships with associated partners and vendors to understand new technologies solutions and collaborate with network service providers when critical outage occurs. 

Scope of Authority - span of control (work unit, site, department, division, etc.), monetary value of budget/spend authority ( capital, operating, etc.), P&L responsibility, etc.

Employee will oversee all networking efforts across the organization, including subsidiaries, to include work efforts by other networking personnel as well as management of vendors to ensure SLAs are met

Review and understand business and application requirements



Plan the implementation and change of installation projects and upgrades



Perform configurations and installations of networking technologies



Oversee the management and health of the enterprise network



Ensure proper monitoring is in place and process to correct issues by all team members including on-call rotation with other team members



Report on utilization, spend and future capacity planning






Education & Experience

Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience and  certifications required for the job

§  Preferred Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in an information technology related field or equivalent years of IT Networking Experience

§  Required Certifications:  Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

§  Minimum 10 -12 years’ experience in an IT networking role

§  10+ years of hand on experience in the design and implementation of Cisco networking technologies in a large distributed enterprise

§  Strong expertise in manage routers running BGP, EIGRP & OSPF

§  10+ years of hands on experience with Cisco hardware and software including with Cisco Nexus 7K/2k, Catalyst 9k/4500/3800/2900, Cisco ISE and Cisco Wireless LAN controllers.

§  Vendor Management in managing network carriers and external partners for monitoring contractual obligations, performance delivery and service level agreements.

§  Professional experience implementing and supporting cloud services (AWS and Azure), modern data center architectures, Software Defined Networks (SDN) with a broad knowledge of current IT infrastructure and cloud services trends



Proficiency in a body of information required for the job    

e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP/GCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.

§  A strong networking knowledge (routing and switching) foundation, with an in-depth understanding of network protocols and applications, such as EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SSL/TLS/Encryption, Multicast, SNMP, Netflow, etc.

§  Deploy, maintain, and continually optimize network and firewall configurations for the on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure

§  Utilizes knowledge to monitor, and troubleshoot to resolve requests, problems and outages in a timely and effective manner with assistance from vendors and in-house resources; guides and mentors other members of IT organization

§  Proactively analyze existing network and application architectures and behaviors to identify improvements to better support strategic initiatives

§  Strong background in wireless communication design, configuration and support

§  Provide technical expertise and support for load balancers on premise and in cloud

§  Architecture design knowledge with  developing a High Availability and Disaster recovery network for business critical applications

§  Have Knowledge in deploying and maintaining controls within various public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google)

§  Strong cloud Networking experience in either AWS or Azure will be required

§  Ability to respond to issues and concerns 24 hours a day; ability to work additional hours; and flexibility to travel, domestically and internationally 10% of time with periods in excess of three weeks.

§  Identify, diagnose, and resolve network-related service problems

Physical Requirements

Physical & mental requirements     e.g. lift 40 pounds, walk across plant/warehouse, business travel (% of time), driving as part of work responsibilities, etc.

§  Able to lift 40lbs as required

§  Business travel, domestic and abroad of no more than 10%
