Job Summary - a concise overview of the job and the expected results

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Strategic Sourcing Manager provides tactical, strategic, and creative support to the Strategic Sourcing function, including strategic sourcing of third-party manufacturers and packagers.

The Manager collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and prepare business cases for new product selection, with a particular focus on parenteral manufacturing. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of an internal third-party database.

The Manager participates in global initiatives, including strategic planning, continuous improvement and supplier relationship management. The Manager is self-directing and is expected to collaborate successfully with cross-functional functions to satisfy goals & objectives and strategically prepare all supply chain aspects of in support of New Product Introductions.

All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

Strategy & Procurement

• Collaborates with the cross-functional portfolio team to build business cases for third-party outsourcing products.
• Leads vendor scouting initiatives and due diligence activities for the new vendor selection process.
• Supports the Strategic Sourcing function to drive and deliver successful new product launches and readiness, i.e., contract scoping and execution.
• Completes proposal scoping, RFQ issuance, and negotiation with internal team and third-party vendors.

• Builds strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (Technical Operations, QA, PM, Finance, etc.) and third-party vendors.

Continuous Improvement

• Evolves and standardizes the Endo RFQ process for outsourced manufacturing.
• Establishes the third-party strategic sourcing strategy in connection with the overall supplier relationship management (SRM) program.
• Addresses and resolves ongoing supply chain issues; develops and implements risk mitigation plans. 
• Adheres to company policies and procedures regarding management of inventory and logistics to streamline operations and maximize efficiencies.

• Supports roll-out of global corporate ESG initiatives at 3P vendors.

• Works closely with Quality to ensure that procurement/sourcing, replenishment purchasing, and manufacturing decisions are in line with corporate quality objectives and follow appropriate change controls.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience and certifications required for the job

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years’ experience in Supply Chain, materials management, strategic sourcing, planning or procurement.
• Significant ERP experience (SAP, COUPA and Tableau preferred).
• Sterile Pharmaceutical or Biotech product experience in US markets required.
• Third level degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance/Accounting or related discipline preferred.

• CIPS/APICS certification or Project Management certification is a plus.

Knowledge

Proficiency in a body of information required for the job 

e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP/GCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.

• Detailed knowledge of sales, forecasting, planning, buying and distribution.
• Deep understanding of the product development and launch process in an FDA regulated industry.

• Detailed knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing and contracting.
