Job Summary | ||
The Intellectual Property Director will support an existing fast-paced branded pharmaceutical business. The selected candidate will work closely with R&D and other business units to help build and enforce a strong patent portfolio that reflects business objectives. | ||
Scope of Authority | ||
Domestic and international intellectual property counsel and advice across multiple sites and lines of business. | ||

Pre-Litigation & Litigation | § Monitor, review and advise internal stakeholders on impact of patent laws/regulations on pharmaceutical products, strategic issues regarding portfolio management and patent prosecution matters § Provide support for patent-related and other IP litigations

Current and Future IP Opportunities | § Manage, prepare and review existing and developing patent prosecution portfolio and manage external patent counsel re same § Define patentable opportunities to build IP portfolio, including preparing new patent applications § Advise R&D on patent and other intellectual property matters, including invention disclosures and filing strategies § Conduct Freedom to Operate and patentability analyses

Other | § Draft and review legal documents related to intellectual property matters. § Advise clients on trademark and copyright matters § Assist in preparation of reviewing and revising contracts, internal policies and protocols, assignments, development/collaboration agreements, licenses, and the like on topics pertinent to intellectual property, including any and all confidential/proprietary information. § Support business development due diligence activities | 20% |

Qualifications | ||
Education & Experience | ||
§ A minimum of a BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, or related discipline required. § Qualified patent attorney (US, UK or European patent attorney qualifications and member of a national or state bar) § Min. 5 years experience at a law firm and/or in-house, in pharmaceutical and/or biotech patents and IP.

§ Strong knowledge of principles of Intellectual Property protection and litigation. § Strong knowledge of FDA regulations. | ||
