The Job at a Glance
The Outbound Fulfillment Center Manager at our brand new, 100k square foot, state-of-the-art fulfillment center, is responsible for leading all outbound operations within the distribution center to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective order fulfillment and shipping. This role drives productivity, safety, and quality while developing and empowering outbound teams to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage, train, and develop outbound supervisors, leads, and team members to achieve operational goals.
- Create a positive, team-oriented culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the outbound department.
- Oversee labor planning and staffing to align with shipping volumes and operational needs.
- Champion organizational change initiatives by clearly communicating vision, purpose, and expected outcomes to team members.
Outbound Operations
- Oversee order picking, packing, staging, and shipping processes to ensure all customer orders are fulfilled accurately and shipped on time.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and quality to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly operational targets.
- Ensure outbound shipments are compliant with customer requirements and carrier specifications.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment as needed.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all safety policies, procedures, and standards are followed within the outbound department.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, etc.).
Process Improvement
- Analyze outbound performance metrics to identify operational inefficiencies and drive process improvements.
- Implement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with inbound, inventory control, transportation, customer service, and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Communicate effectively with corporate teams, carriers, and customers to resolve outbound issues or delays.
Reporting & KPI Management
- Monitor and report on key outbound metrics such as order accuracy, shipping productivity, and on-time departure rates.
- Develop action plans to address performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.
To Land This Opportunity
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a distribution or fulfillment center environment, with a focus on outbound operations.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- You have a strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
- You have excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, are proficient in English (verbal and written).
- You are reliable, enthusiastic, and committed to team success.
- Comfortable working in varying warehouse temperatures and conditions.
- Availability to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends based on operational demands.

The annual salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 which is based on including but not limited to qualifications, experience, equipment, shift, and geographical location. Encompass is a pay for performance-company. In addition to base pay, some roles offer a bonus depending on the role.
