Description

As a member of the Enterprise Technical Services team, a Network Engineer will be responsible for the support, maintenance, and implementation of all related network software and hardware for Empyrean.

 

Job Functions:  

  • Performing Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting and resolution of network failures and issues.
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, firewalls and wireless devices
  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
  • Maintain and update IP management, DHCP scopes, DNS
  • Assist with network projects including the implementation of new networks, upgrading existing networks, finding products to fit a specific need, and consulting for future directions
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and testing when required
  • Working with Security team protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures, including upgrades and patching
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made for improvements
  • Researching, designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Work with WAN link carriers to troubleshoot and resolve complex WAN connectivity issues.
  • Maintaining and monitoring our VPLS and MPLS networks.
  • Operate and interpret data analysis using SNMP tools and data analyzers, such as sniffer, Wireshark, and TCP dump
  • Maintain and update IP management and network documentation, Visio diagrams
  • Participate to the on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

 

Qualifications:  

  • Minimum of 5 years plus experience in a directly related position
  • CCNP required minimum, or similar equivalent certifications. Other certifications would be nice to have but not required
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, and controllers
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, IOS/Nexus
  • Working knowledge of Cisco ASA firewalls, FirePower
  • Working knowledge of Cisco wireless equipment.
  • Experience with VPLS and MPLS networks
  • Experience with VPN technologies (DMVPN, IPSec, SSL, AnyConnect, MFA)
  • Exposure to complex routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP…), IPS/IDS technologies
  • Hands-on experience of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Subnetting
  • Hands-on experience of server load balancing (HAProxy, F5…)
  • Experience with SIP connections, VOIP applications, systems and connections
  • Experience troubleshooting SIP connections and routing
  • Experience Managing Carriers, Carrier  interconnects (Internet and Telco)
  • Experience with different virtual server technologies, VMWare, cloud-based
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux servers, VMs and physicals
  • Experience with VMWare NSX-V, Network virtualization and security, as well as deploying NSX and NSX-T configurations
  • Experience troubleshooting NSX related connectivity issues, along with NSX Integration, NSX micro segmentation and pushing rules on NSX.
  • Experience with the use of monitoring tools and log collection
  • Hands-on experience with copper cabling and fiber optics
  • Have a solid understanding of change management process
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary
  • Strong customer-service focus
  • Ability to continue education and maintain industry certifications, as applicable
  • Able to lift heavy equipment (50 lbs.)
