Role Overview 
This hands-on position oversees the entire Des Moines site, with a focus on managing the P&L and driving performance. The Director of Operations is accountable for exceeding annual budget objectives while providing world-class leadership for the Des Moines location. They ensure that aircraft are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with high safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role is essential in meeting or exceeding departmental goals for efficiency, cost control, and profitability. Key responsibilities include managing staff, optimizing productivity, and fostering a supportive work environment that encourages excellence.
Key Responsibilities 
Customer Satisfaction and Operational Efficiency 
  • Ensure timely delivery of aircraft to meet target dates while meeting budget requirements.
  • Oversee and own the execution of all customer work orders, maintaining consistent quality and reliability.
  • Be available to extend work hours to meet critical customer needs when necessary.
Labor Utilization and Financial Objectives 
  • Maximize labor utilization, aiming for work order goal hour efficiency (90%+), and monitor the Earned Billed Hour (EBR) to drive labor revenue.
  • Assist in achieving site contribution profit goals, including gross profit and operational expenses.
  • Ensure accuracy in all customer billing and monitor site financial goals, including monthly EBITDA targets.
Leadership and Accountability 
  • Act professionally, setting high expectations for both self and team members.
  • Establish a problem-solving environment, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Be visible daily, actively coaching and developing team members while recognizing high performance and addressing poor performance as necessary.
  • Communicate site and corporate successes and challenges transparently with the team.
Continuous Improvement and Development 
  • Maintain and monitor work orders, ensuring costs and billing are updated and closed within five days of aircraft delivery.
  • Conduct weekly analyses of prior work orders to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Engage in succession planning by identifying and developing talent for critical roles within the team.
Qualifications 
Licenses: 
  • A&P License required
  • I.A. authorization preferred
Education and Experience:
  • Thorough knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145.
  • 15 Years Turbine/Turboprop aircraft/general aviation maintenance experience 
  • 10 years aircraft maintenance supervisory/management experience 
  • Associates degree in business management or equivalent management experience
