Purpose of the Job:

Direct and indirect management and coordination of all plant operations including distribution operations, production operations, maintenance, safety, quality, and other production-related activities.

 

Essential Functions:

1.      Coordinates and manages operations for assigned area of distribution and fabrication production, maintenance, safety, quality, and shipping and receiving.

2.      Coordinates plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure that the overall operating objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.

3.      Schedules work and flow of materials through the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system and actively addresses issues with orders, supplier deliveries, manpower requirements, and equipment utilization.

4.      Communicates with Customer Service and Sales team status of orders and promptly notifies those teams of delays or service interruptions including recovery plans.

5.      Responsible for specific KPI performance related to overall plant performance within distribution operations, production, safety and quality standards.

6.      Controls and minimizes labor, overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.

7.      Maintains and /or upgrades existing plant facilities and equipment including the replacement of, or adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.

8.      Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.

9.      Provides direction, development, training support and leadership to subordinates.

 

Qualifications to Meet Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or a related field and over five years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in MRP systems and ability to work through complex issues to deliver product on time.
  3. Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  4. Thorough knowledge of safety laws and regulations and the ability to implement related policies and procedures.
  5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  6. Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures.
