Egnyte is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Desktop Team in India. The Desktop Team builds and maintains Egnyte’s business-critical desktop applications for Windows and macOS — the primary entry point to our ecosystem for hundreds of thousands of active users worldwide. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and enjoy full autonomy in leading a team of engineers. We are looking for a leader who ensures engineers are working on the right things, have room to grow, and are continuously raising the quality bar on one of Egnyte’s most visible products.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Partner with the Product team in India, Poland and the US to define priorities, gather business context, and translate customer feedback into the team’s roadmap
- Lead a team of India-based desktop engineers, setting up effective processes, monitoring productivity, and collaborating closely with the Poland-based team (primary time zone overlap)
- Create and maintain career development plans for all team members, ensuring everyone has the support, context, and growth opportunities they need
- Unblock the team by removing obstacles, clarifying requirements, and ensuring well-defined specifications before development begins
- Actively participate in recruitment processes and align team structure to changing business demands and growth plans
- Maintain a healthy codebase and drive continuous improvement — the Desktop app serves hundreds of thousands of active users globally
- Monitor product usage, performance, and reliability at the feature level, and continuously improve quality processes
- React swiftly to customer feedback through patch releases, reprioritization, and close collaboration with support and product teams
- Drive AI adoption within the team — Egnyte is actively investing in AI and the Desktop platform increasingly integrates AI tools and workflows; you will champion this revolution together with the entire Egnyte platform
- Act as an active member of the global Egnyte leadership team, driving global initiatives, promoting Egnyte culture, and influencing engineering standards
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with 3+ years in an engineering leadership role
- Experience working on a mid- or large-scale product with complex technical challenges
- Background in desktop native application development is a strong advantage — the team works primarily with C++, C#, SwiftUI, and Python across Windows and macOS platforms
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills, with the ability to balance engineering and product concerns
- Very good understanding of how to navigate teams within a long-term technical strategy aligned with a product roadmap
- Good judgment on when to step in and when to give the team space to act
- Experience managing distributed or remote teams across time zones
- Strong communication skills, including very good written and spoken English
- Track record of driving technical excellence and product quality in a large-scale, customer-facing application
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Product teams and senior stakeholders across multiple geographies
