EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • College or Equivalent.................. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Job-Related Experience.............. 5 - 10 yrs. experience in a maintenance supervisory role

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for supervising and directing all maintenance-related work activities, overseeing mechanical and electrical maintenance planning and scheduling.  Must have a wide technical knowledge including, electrical, PLC, electronics, mechanical, machining, welding, and general construction practices.    The Maintenance Manager will lead the day to day activities of the maintenance mechanics in the repair and upkeep of factory equipment including preventive maintenance and providing support of all plant activities.  The Maintenance Manager will oversee facility and landscaping maintenance, making contractor and outsourcing recommendations.  Servant Leadership, strong communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skills are required.  The success of this position is based on meeting those goals and effectively carrying out the following “Core Duties and Responsibilities.”

 

CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead with Servant Leader Principles
  • Support Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Establish and manage to downtime metrics
  • Implement and expand upon Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Take a holistic approach to equipment maintenance using TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
  • Prioritize and assign maintenance work orders to union technicians
  • Oversee and approve contractor performance
  • Approve and process purchase requisitions
  • Assure Preventative Maintenance is completed on schedule
  • Track and record machine maintenance utilizing CMMS system
  • Effectively coordinates and utilizes available resources to formulate action plans for process and quality improvements
  • Oversees management of machine spare parts inventory
  • Monitor work of others
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the skills of the department
  • Evaluate work of others
  • Establish rules/procedures and/or standards
  • Establish and maintain standard work instructions
  • Conduct formal performance evaluations
  • Initiate measures to ensure a safe workplace environment
  • Be an integral part of the Eggers Safety team
  • Manage monthly budget numbers within the Maintenance Department
  • Complete limited administrative paperwork
  • Attend/lead meetings
  • Actively participate in Corporate Initiative efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

Problem Solving/Decision Making:  Troubleshooting and decision-making are frequently used to resolve personnel and manufacturing issues.  Additionally, skillful problem solving is necessary to ensure product quality.  A critical part of the daily decision-making involves interpreting maintenance work orders to accurately inform the appropriate maintenance and production personnel along with the appropriate management.

 

Degree of Independent Judgment: This position involves a high degree of independent judgment.

 

Degree of Latitude/Flexibility: This position requires a high degree of flexibility.

 

Number of Employees Supervised:    Directly = 3-16 Union Maintenance Technicians and 2-5 non Union employees

This position requires a broad knowledge of wood products, veneers, and manufacturing processes.  The scope of this position dictates a fundamental understanding of this industry.  The skills necessary to do this job require crossover into many functional areas.
