FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $150,000 to $180,000 annually in Huntsville and $165,000 to $200,000 annually in San Luis Obispo. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment. 

 

SUMMARY

The Senior FP&A Manager will lead financial planning and analysis efforts within the finance department. This role involves strategic financial management, forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis to support decision making and drive operational efficiency.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Develop and monitor financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and provide insightful analysis to senior management.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to enhance financial performance.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and manage annual budgets, including revenue projections, expense forecasts, and capital expenditure plans.
  • Analyze actual financial results against budgeted expectations and provide variance analysis and explanations.
  • Prepare financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Prepare product and contract cost and price analysis, support preparation and maintenance of product price catalogs, and support proposal teams
  • Analyze and track inventory, prepare inventory reports, and support inventory accounting procedures, audits and valuations
  • Manage the cash flow of the organization, ensuring adequate liquidity and optimal utilization of funds.
  • Monitor and manage financial risks, including foreign exchange risk, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely completion of audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, and implement necessary changes to financial processes and systems.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to senior management and department leaders, including financial analysis, financial and operational metrics, cost control, and investment decisions.
  • Lead or participate in special projects and initiatives to improve financial operations, systems, and processes.
  • Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Assist with other projects and initiatives as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are non-exhaustive qualifications for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis
  • Proficient in financial modeling, advanced Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in a similar finance role, preferably in a multinational organization.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent financial analysis and modeling skills, with a focus on driving insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Proficient in financial reporting and analysis tools, as well as Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Strong understanding of cash flow management, liquidity, and working capital management.
  • Familiarity with international accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and experience with multi-currency transactions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, CFA or CPA
  • Experience in aerospace and defense or related industries.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
